CHAPTER EIGHT
Overload Principle
Many of us today are exercising for health; we're jogging to overload our heart. It's called the overload
principle. If we increase our heart rate, depending upon our age, for about twenty minutes it will help our
heart get stronger. If we lift weights, the muscle, when it is overloaded, gets stronger. And if we do many
repetitions, it will build up our endurance. We overload our physical bodies to become stronger.
Overloading works mentally, also. The more we read, the better we read. We can learn to speed-read by
overloading ourselves. When we overload, we become stronger and we learn to endure, which will help bring
us into completion or perfection.
God is the originator of the overload principle. God is the author of what we see people do now for their
physical bodies and their mental bodies. Similarly, God permits overload sometimes, but the overload is just
to make us stronger. Through the trials and tribulations and temptations of sickness, suffering,
disappointment, oppression, depression, and even death, we get overloaded to become stronger so we can
make it to the other side of through.

Summary
God has promised that if we get through our trials and tribulations, there is a blessing awaiting us. Trials
are overcome through perseverance, and perseverance brings us into perfection. The process can be compared
to the overload principle used in physical fitness training. When we overload a muscle through the use of
exercise, we increase the strength of that muscle. Likewise, when God overloads us with trials and
tribulations, we grow stronger.
To get through our trials and tribulations, we are admonished to 1) ask for wisdom, 2) count it all joy, and
3) picture our paycheck.
In addition, to receive this blessing we must overcome the problem of being double- minded. Because God
is the first and greatest promise-keeper, we have the assurance that we can be blessed through trials and
tribulations.
