CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA
Council Report
September 9, 2014
To: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
From: J ason Stilwell, City Administrator
Submitted by: J ason Stilwell, City Administrator
Subject: DISCUSSION OF CAR SHOW WEEK

RECOMMENDATION(S):
Receive public comment and discuss activities during Concours to be incorporated into
the after action report and planning for the 2015 event; provide direction as required.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The week of August 25, 2014 was car week on the Monterey Peninsula marking a
number of well attended automobile-centric activities and events. The City has begun its
after action analysis and a key component of such analysis is hearing and understanding
issues that arise so they can be incorporated into subsequent event preparation and
planning.
The Mayor and City Administrator met with the Concours on the Avenue event sponsor.
Staff have had an after action debriefing. The Community Activities and Cultural
Commission will be receiving a report of the findings to guide its involvement in planning
for the 2015 car week events and other events as applicable. Public comment and
feedback is important to the process and the meeting with the City Council earlier in the
process provides an additional opportunity for public comment and feedback that can be
presented to the CA&CC and built into after action reports.
