My initial feelings on the lesson Ive just taught.

I felt sts responded well to the activities. I still consider some of the activities are centered on
me, I would like to have a class in which sts do most of the talking. They seem to depend on
the teachers instructions and feedback a lot. I am very pleased to see that Pedro seems to be
doing better. He seemed to be more accurate today and performed a lot better during my
class. In general, I would say, they are improving a lot and they seem to enjoy English
classes more every day.

KEY MOMENTS
What I planned to do. What actually happened.
(What the students did/said,
what I did/said)
What I was feeling and
thinking at the time.

Have sts talk about what
famous people do on a
regular basis (routine).

Students were able to speak
more confidently about their
family members activities
than the famous persons
activities.

I was pleased to see sts
participating and at the same
time I was wondering how
we can help them improve
their linguistic level.

What did the students learn and how did they show me they learned it?

Students learned to use the third person singular pretty well but they can still use more practice. They
were able to talk about a relative very confidently.

What were the objectives of the lesson?
How well did the students achieve them?
The objectives were to use simple present in the third person fluently to speak about a famous person
and to discriminate the ending suffixes /s/, /z/ and /iz/. The sts achieved the objectives and they were
able to use the verbs correctly but I think they need more practice.

Things that I think effectively served students learning in this lesson:
Using popsicles sticks and colors seemed to remind them of the sounds and the structure.
Working in pairs and changing partners fostered learning because they have the opportunity to
review information. Moving around always seems to help sts eep attention for a longer time.

Things that are puzzling me from this lesson:
How can I make my class more learner centered?

What Ive learned from this lesson about facilitating learning:
Our sts are actually doing better and they seem to remember more information.

Questions / Issues/ puzzles I would like to get feedback on and/or to discuss and/or think more
about
Was I going too fast?
