The Big Chief is stable, yet fast and its deep bows and raised ‘V’-board allow it to slice
through rough water. The hull shape has been scientifically designed to optimize speed,
stability and comfort. The boat has been designed to provide all-round capability
including: Novice Training, Social rowing, Open-water rowing and Flat water racing.

It delivers excellent performance in

coastal or open-water conditions.
The hull has no deck hatch making it
splash and capsize proof. The foot-
well has a sluice towards the stern
to empty excess water if the cockpit
has been swamped. The Big Chief is
extremely comfortable, scientifically
designed, and a great rough water
performer.
Construction:

The hull and deck are moulded glass-fibre sandwich construction using a single join seam
running along the length of the boat. The deck has been shaped to maximize the vertical
dimension in key areas in order to achieve excellent rigidity. A high density foam ‘stringer’
runs through the cockpit area for added strength and toughness. A combination of materials
and shell geometry has been used to produce an affordable boat with exceptionally rewarding
performance.
Rigging:

The Big Chief is equipped with a

wing rigger, supplied by RowFit
(Australia). It is a tried and
tested design manufactured to
exacting standards. The rigger
has a quick release mechanism
allowing the boat to be rigged or
de-rigged in less than 2 minutes
without the need for any
spanners.

It is one of the most versatile and user-friendly

sculling boats available.
Seat:

The seat is moulded from glass-fibre,

specifically designed with extra
curvature and width to offer maximum
comfort for enjoyable rowing. All seats
are supplied in Signal Red.

Stretcher:

The Big Chief has no fixed rowing

shoes. Instead, a glass-fibre
moulded footplate with heel cups
is used. This is ideal for quick
and easy entry or exit from the
boat. The footplate has been
shaped and optimally positioned
to support the feet for enjoyable
confident rowing.
