Ampleforths Pilgrimage to Lourdes

For many years, the monks, teachers, recent graduates

and students of Ampleforth School have gone on
pilgrimage to Lourdes, France
Another sister school, Portsmouth Abbey School, joined
this pilgrimage in recent years
Teachers from both schools have enthusias@cally noted
that this pilgrimage has been a life-changing experience
for many of those who have par@cipated in it

A Special Opportunity
This pilgrimage oers a privileged opportunity
to serve Christ in the sick who go to Lourdes,
to grow in ones apprecia@on of Gods
graces,
to deepen ones friendships, and
to see some beau@ful places, namely
Madrid, Avila, Segovia, Toledo,
Pamplona, and Lourdes.

The I@nerary, Part 1: The Trip

July 8: Depart Saint Louis

July 9: Arrive in Madrid, tour Madrid
July 10: Day trip to Avila and Segovia
July 11: Day trip to Toledo
July 12: Go to Pamplona
July 13: Visit Pamplona,
travel to Lourdes

The I@nerary, Part 2: The Pilgrimage

July 14-21: Pray, take care of the sick in Lourdes,*
and socialize a liZle
July 21: Depart, spending the night in a hotel near
an airport elsewhere**
July 22: Arrive back in St. Louis

* You will likely help to bathe, clothe, and push/pull the wheelchairs of the sick
** We will likely need to stay in a hotel near an airport somewhere in northern Europe
(e.g., Frankfurt), during a comfortable layover that evening.

The Targets

The goal is to have 2 chaplains (Fr Cassian and Fr Cuthbert), one

Spanish-speaking monk-chaperone (Br Athanasius, currently studying
in Pamplona), one adult, lay chaperone (a father), and some pilgrims:
Seniors (18 years and older)
Parents (rst preference will be given to fathers)
Young Alumni
The Arrangements
In Madrid, a highly-rated, centrally-located apartment that can
sleep 20 people
In Pamplona, TBD
In Lourdes, several studio rooms for 5 people in the same complex

The Es'mated Cost: $4500* per traveller
*The nal cost will vary based upon the number of pilgrims, the
airfare, etc.
