I. PREPARATION

1. Overall Objectives of the lesson:


By the end of this lesson, students will be careful about similar sounding words.
Also, this lesson will contribute to their fluency in speaking.
2. Behavioral Objectives: By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to :
- notice some similar sounding words
- use them correctly and effectively.
- distinguish how intonation and stress effects meaning in a sentence.
- use these words more accurately
II. PRESENTATION

1. Warm-Up and Motivation:


Firstly, the teacher says to the class a few words with different stress and intonation
so as to change the meaning and draw students’ attention to the difference. He
makes them think about this.
While the students are trying to guess the reasons for the change of meaning in
the sentences given by the teacher in the beginning, all the students will be interested
in involving in the activities.
Teacher wants the students to look at the pre-reading questions and answer
them.

2. Stating the Instructional Objectives:


The teacher says to the students that in this lesson they will see how to convey
the exact meaning by choosing the right pronunciation and intonation. Teacher
wants them to read the passage about misunderstandings resulting from wrong
pronunciation and intonation. they will enjoy the lesson.
3. Presenting the Instructional Objectives:
Teacher writes some words and sentences that may be confused because of the
wrong pronunciation and intonation.

III. PRACTICE
Activity 1
Teacher gives and writes different words on the board that may be confused. And the students
write them down.

Activity 2
Teacher gives some sentences by the help of ppt, and wants the students to write or find the
correct answer.

III. PRODUCTION
As the third and productive activity, there are some questions. Teacher wants the
students to form discussion groups to discuss the questions. Teacher wants the
students to write if there are some similar-sounding words which will cause
misunderstandings in their native language.

IV. SUMMARY:
The teacher tells to the students that they have learned to use correct intonation and
stress so as to make reflection and sums up important points once more.
V. ASSIGNMENT:
The teacher advises them to listen and search some more materials if possible
in order to consolidate their knowledge.
