SCHEDULING TERMS

8 Period Traditional - Refers to a


‘traditional’ schedule with 8 separate class
periods of equal time spread out throughout the
day

CORE - Classes such as Math, Science,


English, Social Studies (Geography)

CORE Rotation - Refers to ENCORE


Classes that are scheduled with the CORE
classes

Early Release (ER) - Early Release,


usually for OMS students dismissed 11:50am

Encore - classes not in the CORE Curricula


such as band, choir, health, FACE

FACE - Family and Consumer Education

Homebase (HB) - “Homebase” refers


to the time between classes, currently between
3rd and 4th period for 14 min. Students work on
Student portfolios, reading and interventions.
On Wednesdays we have Extended HB for extra
reading and interventions.
Orange/Black or O/B or OB -
Orange and Black refer to the day rotation, like
day 1 and day 2 at RCI
