– The Palestinian Information Technology Association of companies, a private sector body set-up to support and communicate the benefits of the Palestinian ICT industry. “PITA” was founded in1999 by a group of Palestinian entrepreneurs who wanted to create a non-government body todefend the interests of the ICT sector. PITA has evolved as a strong organization that representsmore than 80 major companies from various ICT sub-sectors including hardware distributors,software development firms, office automation vendors, internet service providers,telecommunications, IT consulting, IT training and related businesses. The Association is comprised of about 300 companies in thefields of electronics, telecommunications, semiconductors, medical devices, IT and software.Membership in the Association is open to any company dealing with design of electronics andsoftware products having a minimum added value of 45%. Members of the Association includeprivate, public, government-owned and multi-national companies. IAESI strives to maintain thecompetitive advantage of Israel's electronics and IT sector in the face of increasing competition fromIndia, China and the countries of the Former Soviet Union. The Association has set itself a target of increasing annual sales to $35 billion, most of which will be export oriented, by 2013-2015.
