This rubric evaluates student presentations or papers on the causes of conflicts in Washington state history. An expert-level response will state and analyze the main causes of a conflict, describe who was involved, what the conflict was about, when and where it took place. It will also evaluate why specific causes were more important and how the conflict may have been avoided. The response will be supported by evidence from at least four credible sources cited both in-text and in a bibliography. A passing response will still identify causes and provide most of the relevant details, but may analyze causes or sources less thoroughly.
