membership drive

to come to the Library on Tuesdays in November, 10am-3pm to continue working
on their piece. The same paint and equipment will be available so you can add the
final touches.If you dont want to keep it,
you can drop off the canvas to be reused
in other art programs in the community.

Ty Pozzobon earned $97,500 for a 4th

place finish in the aggregate at the 2016
PBR World Finals, yesterday in Las
Vegas. That puts him 23rd in the PBR
World Standings concluding the event.
Last month, he became the PBR Canada
points champion.

The Nicola Valley Community Theatre Society is kicking off its second
membership drive during the month of
November. They presently have over 600
members and hope to reach a goal of
1000. A large membership shows strong
support for the project when they apply
for grants. Memberships are not a significant part of the fundraising efforts.
A single membership is $10, and $20 for
a family. If you are already a member,
dont sign up again: the group has extended present and new memberships to
December 31, 2018 and they will revisit
their options at that time.
A membership doesnt give you any
freebies at this time, other than allowing
you to attend the Annual General Meeting and the opportunity to run for a directors position on the board. It basically
is to show your support.
To date, theyve raised nearly $500,000
locally through donations, fundraisers,
no interest loans, committed funds, and
obtained $110,000 in provincial government grants. And they are presently seeking further grants.
It is vital that Merritt diversify its
economy. The theatre project has overwhelming support from a great many organizations, including the tourism
industry, as being key to attracting visitors
and revenues to the area. The ripple effects of a vibrant community core will be
significant. The theatre will provide long
term community benefits and appeal to a
broad spectrum of the population from
youth to seniors and all walks of life, says
NVCTS chairperson Kurt Christopherson.
