The Global Millennium Prize (GMP) is an annual international

Cited literature and materials must be current and relevant.
Contestants must use quotation marks ______ whenever text is
transcribed, and always reference the source and/or author.
Do not cut and paste from Internet without quotes and citing the
source. Plagiarism (copying) will be disqualied! Your original ideas
are what is required.
Produce your nal project plan submission which should be
between 1 to 3 pages and written in English. Submissions may be
neatly handwritten or typed. You can include charts, drawings and
illustrations to support your proposals.
Submit your completed Application Form with Project
plan attached to your schools GMP facilitator by the
deadline for submissions to the national competition
which is 30 July 2010.

Evaluation
Submissions will not be returned.
Two phases of selection will be conducted. Only shortlisted
contestants will be invited to review their project plans for phase 2
selection.
Submissions will be judged by experts on a 10-point scale.

* The Competition Organizers reserve the right to revise these
intentions, or their conditions, at their considered discretion. It is also
possible that additional inputs may be required from the selected
authors in order to complete or revise their submissions for the global
contest which has some additional requirements.

the GMP-SA 2010
these are the steps
to follow
Read the competition brochure thoroughly to make sure you
understand the competition rules and are eligible to participate. All
entrants must have a valid South African I.D. document.
Complete the Application Form and sign acknowledging yourself as
the genuine author. If you are a learner, you will need the approval of
your parent / guardian and educator to participate.
Choose one of the 15 Future Challenges. You may not submit more
than one project plan per Challenge, however you are allowed submit
separate applications to compete for more than one Challenge.
Develop an original idea or project plan with a future vision and pro-
vide for immediate action to turn your Global Challenge into a local,
national or global improvement, between now and 2030.
Your business plan should cover a short
description that includes the following:
Introduction - Describe the project idea clearly explaining what
you are proposing to do, and what problem it will solve.
Market - The opinions and facts you have collected from your
research, your friends, community, educators and people knowledge-
able and interested in your project.
Project - Outline what the requirements for designing, implement-
ing and operating your project.
Commercialization - Your project plan (commercialization,
promotion and advertising) and possible customers.
Budget - You must estimate (e.g. in one table) the total costs to
design and implement your idea. Secondly, you must estimate (e.g.
in a second table) the total income and costs when your project is in
operation.
Benets - Who will benet from your project?
Summary - A ten line or less (about 100 words) summary of the
most important aspects of your project. (Dont repeat the whole proj-
ect just outline the key highlights).
BRIEFLY refer to the indicated descriptions and links about the
chosen Global Challenge and do your own additional research:
It is important to get acquainted with the description of the Challenge
(e.g. using books, magazines, the Internet, or by asking experts).
Read what the Millennium Project and other futurists already say
about the issue, and come up with creative, better and more precise
ideas and realistic solutions particularly ones that are locally
relevant. Do not repeat what has already been proposed.
