MANIFESTO OF THE THIRD INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION EUROPEAN SOCIETY

The second industrial revolution energy model based on fossil and concentrated sources is irreversibly in
crisis. It has allowed an unprecedented growth of the human race but it also involved disadvantages that
are by now largely overwhelming its advantages and threatening the very human race survival on the
planet.

The disadvantages are summed up in the present three global crisis feeding off each other that we are
experiencing in this historic moment, the energy, the climate and the financial crisis. We are not
experiencing a temporary financial setback but a structural crisis of the fossil fuel based economy, with
effects on our energy (unsteady prices and peak oil) and our climate, which are putting in jeopardy the
civilization as we came to know it. This diabolical interaction of crisis is not going to be effected by some
cosmetic measure such as refinancing credit institutions, because these provisions only hit the problem
superficial effects and not their deep cause.

The only effective answer in this sense will be a fast transition to a Third Industrial Revolution, introducing
a new distributed, interactive and democratic energy model, capable of fully replacing the centralized,
top-down, depleting, second industrial revolution energy model. This new energy model’s breakthrough
technologies can and will support all human economic activities, helping to re-distribute wealth, jobs and
business opportunities, because they are based on solar sources, which are in everybody’s availability,
rather than concentrated sources which are only in the availability of a few. This will introduce a new
democratic energy process that will call to their responsibilities all economic, political and civil society
actors. In this scenario of “ distributed capitalism”, energy is produced directly by the consumers,
preserving the climate and the environment and introducing a reasonable use of natural resources, air,
water and land, giving value to quality agriculture and supplying to farmers a more direct access to their
products markets.

The Third Industrial Revolution will allow the rebalancing of power between the wealthy and the poor in
the world, shifting the energy producing activities balance to the developing countries, in a world wide
effort towards a new “biosphere politics” scenario in which all human beings will act as one, getting over
their geo-political divisions and the energy originated conflicts that have marked the second industrial
revolution period. This period has created tremendous progress and benefits only for one quarter of the
human kind to detriment of the other three quarters, those who, for poetic injustice, are now exposed to
the climate change highest risks.

The experts say that the window we have to prepare for a new energy infrastructure is very small: seven,
ten years maximum, before the climate change damage became irreversible. Some experts say, more
pessimistically, that the climate crisis has already touched the point of no return, that it is already too late.
We would like to think that it isn’t so, that the man can still use his ingenuity, his will and his empathy to
save the biosphere that hosted him since he appeared on the planet. For this reason we will promote
with all our means and in all the possible economic, political and social occasions, the idea of the fastest
possible transition towards Third Industrial Revolution energy models.

It is public powers prerogative to set up a new Third Industrial Revolution infrastructure that allow to
collect, store and re-distribute energy from renewable sources, simultaneously developing all the related
industries, from renewable energies, to hydrogen, smart grids and constructions as power plants, which
are the four pillars of the Third Industrial Revolution that will allow to the world economy to enter in a
new virtuous energy cycle era, creating a new economic dynamic that will create millions of jobs.
