A Decade of Commitment
Looking back on 10 years of success

On April 3, 2006, John Maroon executes the best decision of his life:
the birth of Maroon PR. Before establishing Maroon PR, Maroon
contributed his PR skills and techniques to numerous national
sports teams, like the Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles, and
the Washington Redskins. After working six years on the start and
success of the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, Maroon decided it was
his time to create his own agency. What prompted his decision?
My brother really pushed me to do it, Maroon says. We have
entrepreneurship in our blood.
Fast forward 10 years later. Maroon PR has developed into more
than a small sports agency. Now, with over 30 clients nationwide,
Maroon PR has opened its doors to much more. Clients include
restaurants, non-profits, hospitals, on-screen personnel and much
more.

Some might
say 10 years
isnt that long.
However,
Maroon has
learned a lot
throughout this
past decade.
We are more
immersed with
clientsthe
longer they

invest in us the more effective we are with them, Maroon said.

Also, people tend to make business more complicated than it
needs to be. Be honorable and work hard and everything else
takes care of itself.
As a way to thank and celebrate a decade of success, Maroon PR
hosted a staff party at the office. The highlight of the party? The
customized and interactive Baltimore Photo Social Booth the
Maroon PR staff had a little too much fun with.

Q & A WITH JENN EISENBERG

In 2015, we welcomed Jenn Eisenberg to the Maroon PR team after she graduated from University
of Maryland with a Bachelors Degree in Communications and a concentration in public relations.
As an account coordinator, Jenn shares her thoughts on working at the company and her favorite
assignments she has worked on so far.

What is your position at Maroon PR?

I am an account coordinator. I use an integrated

PR approach to manage key accounts, including
Walmart, GBMC and Brigance Brigade Foundation.
Based on client needs, I pitch local and national
media, write press and collateral materials, conduct
research and promote media segments and events.

What do you love most about your

job?

Maroon PR truly has a diverse clientele. It has been

a great opportunity to work with such an array of
clients and work in a collaborative environment
where input among team members is encouraged.

What are some of your favorite

projects you have worked on?

This past summer, I traveled to Iron Ridge,

Wisconsin, to attend the 24/7 Battle Buddy
Summer Games for the Fehertys Troops First
Foundation. Troops First is a nonprofit that
provides assistance to U.S military service
members and their families through a number of
programs. In partnership with Jessiffany Canine
Services, LLC, Troops Firsts 24/7 Battle Buddies
program matches trained service dogs with
wounded military veterans who have served in Iraq
or Afghanistan.
Twelve veterans and their battle buddies, along
with civilians and their dogs, competed in a series
of competitions at the Battle Buddy Summer
Games, which tested these dogs obedience,
athletic ability and overall behavior.
By attending these Games, I was able to see the
impact Troops First has on our nations veterans,
which made me even prouder to work for the
organization. It truly was an incredible experience
to meet and hear the stories of the individuals this
organization is helping daily.

Ready to take part in the coolest challenge ever?

This January, the Maryland State Police and other
pledges will plunge into the icy waters of the
Chesapeake Bay for its 21st Annual Polar Bear
Plunge.
The Polar Bear Plunge is a charity event where over
10,000 individuals pledge a minimum of $75 each
year to dive into the Chesapeake Bay. The plunge
will be Jan. 26-28 at Sandy Point Park.

Maroon PR was excited for this years

soiree and helped out by delegating event
coverage. Over 1,212,475 impressions
were totaled with a publicity value of
93,563.52+ thanks to our Maroon PR team.

Throughout the two-day

event, individuals will be
able sign up for different
plunges. Participants
who are active in law
enforcement qualify for
the police, fire/EMS, or
military plunging times.
Other categories include:
the Corporate Plunge,
which is dedicated to diving
in during happy hour with
co-workers; and the Pee
Wee & Family Plunge,
which includes baby pools
for younger pledges.

According to SOMD, 6.5

million people in the U.S live
with an intellectual disability,
which prohibits them from
participating in national
competive sports. SOMD
gives hope for these people
by providing them with an
opportunity to participate in
sports programs and relies on
fundraising events such as the
Polar Bear Plunge.

As of late Nov., the Polar

Bear plunge has raised

MID-ATLANTIC NURSERY TRADE SHOW
MANTS Background
The Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show (MANTS) is
one of the largest private horticultural trade shows
in the U.S. Every January, MANTS transforms over
300,000 square feet in the Baltimore Convention
Center into a green-filled, plant-loving environment,
ready to host and showcase some of the finest
botanical exhibits in the world.
This year, MANTS will hold its 47th event from Jan.
11-13. Just like any other tradeshow, MANTS hopes
to increase their attendance for the 2017 show. Last
year, MANTS saw a 7 percent increase in attendance,
hosting 11,039 registrants and 966 exhibiting
companies.
MANTS brings in a wide variety of attendees from all

Maroon PRs Involvement

Maroon PR has been collaborating with MANTS
since 2015. Since then, Maroon PR has been
working hand-in-hand with MANTS by enforcing
an increased presence on social media. Before
the tradeshow, MANTS became more active on
Twitter,Vine and YouTube. As a result, MANTS
observed a significant increase in followers,
retweets, and tags. During the event, Maroon PR
successfully took over all social media accounts by
live tweeting, answering attendees questions, and
creating Vines showcasing exhibitors plants and
products. Maroon PR looks forward to assisting
in the trade show (in any way possible) and seeing
the variety of plants at #MANTS2017.
