Figure 1. The Church of Holy Wisdom
The Hagia Sophia (Church of Holy Wisdom) was built in Constantinople (now
Istanbul, Turkey) between 532 and 537 under the auspices of Emperor Justinian I.
It was planned and supervised by two architects, Anthemius of Tralles and Isidorus
of Miletus; but hundreds of foremen and thousands of workers were involved.
According to legend, an angel watched over the work and taught the men what
they needed to know for the construction. It was completed in less than six years.
On December 25, 537, Hagia Sophia was dedicated. The temple itself was so
richly and artistically decorated that Justinian proclaimed:
Hagia Sophia was the largest church for the next 1000 years and remains the fourth
largest today.
The original dome fell after an earthquake and was replaced in 563.
The church became a mosque after the Ottoman conquest of 1453, and is now a
museum.

Figure 7. Hagia Sophia, Church of Holy Wisdom, is 180 ft high (H).
The height of Hagia Sophia's dome is 180 feet = 2160 inches = 54.864 m.
What is skein?
The English have a measurement of length, which they call skein. Skein is a
loosely coiled length of yarn or thread wound on a reel:
“In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth
day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was struck down, on that
very day, the hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me there. He brought
me, in visions of God, to the land of Israel, and set me down upon a very high
mountain, on which was a structure like a city to the south. When he brought me
there, a man was there, whose appearance shone like bronze, with a linen cord and
a measuring reed in his hand; and he was standing in the gateway. ” (Ezekiel,
Chapter 40, 1-3, New Revised Standard Version of the Bible).

If a certain object was to travel with a speed of 2 sacred cubits ( 50 inches or
127 cm) in a second, for 24 hours (1 day) it would travel a distance of 109.728 km
= 1000 skeins. For one year of 365.242 days would travel around the Equator of
the Earth: 40,077.27418 km.
“Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind: ‘Who is this that darkens
counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up your loins like a man, I will
question you, and you shall declare to me. ‘Where were you when I laid the
foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its
measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?” (Book of
Job, 38, 1-5, New Revised Standard Version of the Bible)
The Great Pyramid: 36th course from the natural rock base, or 35th course from
the pavement = 1162.602377 inches high.

The Earth's equatorial radius = 6378.50168 km = 251,122,113.4 inches
2160 x 2 = 4320
