Press Release

We are winning the battle!

Let me make one thing absolutely clear, I am, like many of my
colleagues, 100% committed to the Council’s recovery;
however, I am firmly of the opinion that full recovery is only
possible once the numerous cancers within Anglesey County
Council have been effectively removed and neutralised.

For Mr Bowles to state that, ‘there remains a stubborn minority

refusing to relinquish past conflicts’ would appear to suggest
that he wishes to ignore past wrong-doings and corruption
within the Council, effectively offering perpetrators an amnesty.
He further states that he has received 18 allegations against
members and officers dismissing them as ‘nothing of
substance’, but then goes-on to say that ‘services like planning
were shedding the image of sleaze’. Come-on Mr Bowles, either
there is evidence of past corruption or there is not, you cannot
have it both ways.

I have consistently said that where I see injustice I shall raise it;
where I see dishonesty in public office I shall raise it; where I
see corruption I shall raise it - this was one of my election
pledges and make no mistake, I will stand by it no matter how
much pressure is brought to bear on me to turn a blind eye.

County Councillor

Barrie Durkin

Llanbedrgoch.
