1. What does it mean to be godly?

Godliness comes from the old English

word "Godlikeness

Godly means “being like God” in character

 Train Yourself To Be Godly.

God's character

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,

patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. This is the fruit the
Holy Spirit will produce in our lives as we kill off
those natural sinful desires of the flesh, and cease
to live by them, but live instead by the Spirit, in line
with the Spirit's leading”. …Galatians 5:22-2

How do we know that these are the

characteristics of God?

 Love.
1 John 4:8: - Whoever does not love does not
know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:16: - God is love. Whoever lives in

love lives in God, and God in him.

Joy.

Nehemiah 8:10: - Do not grieve, for the joy of

the LORD is your strength.

Peace.

Isaiah 9:6: - For to us a child is born, to us a

son is given, and the government will be on
his shoulders. And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Patience.

2 Peter 3:9: - The Lord isn't really being slow

about his promise to return, as some people
think. No, he is being patient for your sake.
He does not want anyone to perish, so he is
giving more time for everyone to repent.

Kindness.

Luke 6:35-36: - But love your enemies, do good to

them, and lend to them without expecting to get
anything back. Then your reward will be great, and
you will be sons of the Most High, because he is
kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just
as your Father is merciful.

Goodness.

Psalm 25:8-10: - Good and upright is the

LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his
ways. He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way. All the ways of
the LORD are loving and faithful for those
who keep the demands of his covenant.

Faithfulness.

Deuteronomy 7:9: - Know therefore that the

LORD your God is God; he is the faithful
God, keeping his covenant of love to a
thousand generations of those who love him
and keep his commands
