the Holy Cross and Sullivan’s Island Baptist. Both church communities
recognize that even as many of us face few daily needs, there are those
nearby who do face hunger and financial need.
“Pastor Steve Little and I were sitting around one day talking about
the needs in our area and recognized that many in our churches and our
community had the ability to help others and to give hope,” said Trevor
Spencer, Executive Pastor at Church of the Holy Cross. “And we thought
our neighbors would want to participate in blessing those in need, too.”
East Cooper Community Outreach is a community organization that
serves many types of needs for those who live and work in the East
Cooper region. They serve individuals and families with a range of services
including food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, medical care,
counseling, educational opportunities, job preparedness, along with many
other community services. More information about ECCO can be found at
ECCOCharleston.org.
Holy Cross and Sullivan’s Island Baptist wish to thank all their neighbors
on Sullivan’s Island who joined in serving the poor and hungry in the East
Cooper area. Residents gave generously and because of that many families
will have food to sustain them. Both parishes believe there is still much
more to do and they look forward to partnering together again to serve
others, to give back and to give hope. Katherine A. Kenyon served the Town of Sullivan’s Island as its Business License and

ow well do you and your family know the history of Sullivan’s
Island? Are you up for a little challenge on Saturday morning,
April 14, 9 a.m. – noon?
Battery Gadsden is sponsoring the first annual island-wide History
Hunt. How was the island discovered? Who were the first settlers
and where can we find proof of their existence today? What mysteries
remain unsolved?
Registration for this family friendly event starts at 9 a.m. at Battery
Gadsden Cultural Center (Next to Poe Library). The sooner you
register the more time you will have to figure out the clues before the
hunt begins precisely at 10 a.m., rain or shine. You will be given a
map, instructions, and clues. Enjoy Dunkin Donuts as you plan your
strategy. You must unlock the mysteries of the clues in order to find
the 30 historic treasures. It is up to you to decipher each clue to find
the answer. The team that finds the most treasures wins the hunt.
Prizes will be given to the first team that finds each clue and a
trophy will be awarded to the team that finds the most. The hunt will
end exactly at noon. A pizza party, sponsored by 450 Pizza Joint will
be held immediately after to reward all participants. Only golf carts
and bikes are acceptable modes of transportation during the hunt.
Make sure you bring your cell phone to document your findings.

RULES:
• Stay off all private property.
• You must obey all traffic laws.
• Automobiles are not allowed during the hunt.
