Aboru Aboye Abosise

Apetebi is the wife of Orunmila and the wife of a Babalawo. A woman becomes an
Apetebi by performing the ritual marriage to Orunmila and the Babalawo called Isode.
This is where they tie the Ide of If a to her. This Ide protects her spiritually from all
Ajogun(Evil Forces).

Below are a succinct descriptions of the roles an Apetebi adopt:

- Keeps the temple of Ifa clean.

-Make Orun Ifa or Ose Ifa for herself and family
-In charge of Ifa and Ifa related function in her Babalawo's absence(If she knows how,
she may even divine for her Babalawo's clients)
-Feed the Ori of her Babalawo
-Chant the Oriki for her Babalawo
- Speak about Ifa to people unknowing about Ifa.
-Learn about Ifa and Orunmila, and live the tenants of Ifa.
-Remember Apetebi is a position of great respect and must behave as such.
- Respect Omo Awos(Apprentices), Agba Awos(Elders) and Egbe Awo(Pairs or
Colleagues) of her Babalawo.

I leave the floor for all those more knowing and myself to add and or take away from
what I have listed. Forgive any errors or inadequacies on my part.
