0 STEPS IN CREATING THE TESSELLATION

 The table below shows the material that I have use.

MATERIALS QUANTITY
A4 paper 1 piece
Pencil 1-2
Rubber 1
Ruler 1
Black ink pen 1
Colour pencils 1 set

2.1) Firstly, I use a pencil and a ruler to measure the frame that I want to draw in
the A4 paper.

2.5 cm

2.0cm

2.2) I draw 4 type of non-regular polygon which are

Hexagon trapezium triangle rhombus

3
2.3) I draw a hexagon about 2cm from the frame.

2.4) I added non-regular triangle at every side of hexagon using clockwise rotation.

2.5) Then, after I got the shapes above, I added non-regular rhombus in between
of every triangle.

4
2.6) after got the design as the above, I added one more non non-regular polygon
which is Trapezium at every sides of the Rhombus. I also make it reflected so that I
will have two Trapezium each side.

2.7) lastly, I draw 6 more non-regular hexagons at each side of intersection of the
Trapezium. This will form ‘Big Hexagon’.

5
2.8) in order to complete the tessellations, I draw another shapes just like the first
shapes to make it better and full in the frame. But, to make it more attractive, I make
the side of ‘Big Hexagon’ overlapped each other at all of the sides.

3.0 DETAILS OF COLOUR USED

 For the non-regular hexagon, I tend to use Red colour. It is because, in

my opinion the colour is attracting. When I used Red to hexagon which is at
the centre of Big Hexagon, the colour itself can highlight the small non-regular
hexagon at the centre.

 For non-regular triangle, I use green colour. It is because the green

colour can appeal the rectangle shapes since it will be covered by others
shapes.

7
 As for the third shape which is non-regular Rhombus, I use blue colour
for it in order to sink the shapes. It is because both of the colour above is
bright and appeal themselves. So, I need to sink the triangle shapes to make
sure people notice about it.

 For the last non-regular polygon which is Trapezium, I have use yellow
colour. The reason why I chose that colour for that shapes is because it can
appeal the shapes of Big Hexagon. It is suppose to be attractive so that
people realise that there is a few size of non-regular hexagon.

REFLECTION

In completing this task, I have to face many challenges. First of all, I need to
make a research about the topics since I didn’t really understand about it. I go to
library and search for some books. I also search it in the internet. As I face the
problem to understand the explanation about the topics, I ask for my lecturer’s
guidance. Luckily, she helps me a lot. I have learnt from her that I need to be brave
in whatever things a wanted to do. It is very nice of her to advice me. She also
convinces me to be confidence in my job because I need those criteria in order to be
a good teacher.

By completing this task, I have learnt so many new things. As I learnt about
the tessellation, it makes me understand that there is also art in mathematics. It
helps me to be more creative in thinking. It is because, in the task I need to imagine
what I wanted to do and the effect of it.

Secondly, I also know how to link two subjects into one. As an example, I
need to use my art skill to make the tessellation done. It is unfamiliarly being done by
me. This is one of the technique that I have learnt. In making the tessellation also, I
learnt about transformation in mathematics. So many things that are very interesting
captured my attention. I feel very lucky because I have learnt al this. Lastly, in
colouring the task also teach me how to be creative. I have to make sure the colour I
tend to use is suitable. The colour needs to be well done also because it can make
my task prettier.

From all of what I have learnt, I realised that there are so many things that I
need to master. I need so many skills in order to be a good teacher in the future. I
promise t use all of the experience and knowledge that I know to help the children of
tomorrow.
