MVUSD Statement on Board Member Evan Morgan

Board member Evan Morgan has informed the MVUSD Superintendent that, on June
20, 2018, he was arrested in the City of Corona for an alleged offense related to a
personal matter. Recently this arrest has been publicized on social media. Mr. Morgan
has emphasized that this personal situation involved a dispute between adults, and is
wholly unrelated to the Moreno Valley Unified School District.

While it appears that the District Attorney has not decided whether to prosecute, Mr.
Morgan expressed his belief that he would not be charged with a serious
crime. Nevertheless, Mr. Morgan was concerned about any disruption that news of the
arrest might cause for the District. This is the reason that Mr. Morgan recently took a
leave from Board duties. The District is tracking this matter and will take action, as
appropriate, to ensure that the District continues to function safely and efficiently.
