Problem Statement: What factors could lead towards better level of Job satisfaction
among employees working in organizations in Lahore.

The Hallmarks of Scientific Research

1. Purposiveness:

The researcher has started with an aim and purpose. The focus of researcher is to discuss
aspects which would lead towards better level of Job satisfaction among employees. An
increase in level of Job Satisfaction would lead towards quality work which would help
in achieving organizational goals.

2. Rigor:

In this step the researcher would be taking a sample of employees working in various
organizations operational in Lahore and these samples should belong from different
organizations or else research would produce incorrect results. The samples could include
employees from Mobilink, Telenor, and PTCL. In other words the researcher must take
the sample in such a way that it represents the whole population of Lahore with minimum
degree of biasness. The researcher has to study the previous research if someone has
already done the research on the same problem.

3. Testability:

After random sampling and study of previous research done regarding a related issue, the
researcher develops a hypothesis that how Job Satisfaction can be increased. For example
researcher formulate that “Giving the employees some incentives other than his salary
could a crucial factor in the betterment of the level of job satisfaction”. Then researcher
applies certain statistical tests to verify the hypothesis i.e. correlation, z-test, chi-square
etc.

4. Replicability:
If the results or findings of data studied, and data obtained from the research sample are
similar than the researcher would have more confidence in his findings. To put it
differently the results of the test hypothesis should be supported again and again when the
same type of research is repeated in similar circumstances. The main purpose of tested
again and again is that hypothesis would not have been supported by chance, but
represent the true picture of reality.

5. Precision and Confidence:

Precision refers to the proximity of the findings to certainty based on sample. If the
researcher says that after giving incentives to the employees the there would be a 30-40%
increase in the level of job satisfaction. Now researcher would compare this analysis with
the existent situation. If in reality there is 40% increase in the level of job than the
estimation moves favorably.

Confidence interval refers to the chances that our estimations are correct. It is the
confidence of researcher on the hypothesis that results would be true. It could be 95% or
90%. In case of 95% confidence interval the researcher confidently claim that 90% of the
time his results would be true and there is only 10% chance of being wrong.

6. Objectivity:

The findings of results from the data by the researcher should be objective. It means that
conclusions should base on the facts and figures rather than researcher’s own thoughts.
For example researchers find out that incentives will increase the level of job satisfaction
but after implementation the problem is amplified or remains as it is then it would have a
negative impact because the researcher would have wasted time and money
correspondingly, such a thing must not occur.

7. Generalizability:
Generalizability refers to the scope of applicability of the research findings in one
organizational setting to other settings. In this case the generalizability is low because
low job satisfaction does occur in organizations. But it can be generalizible in such a way
that it could be applied in other organizations as well.

8. Parsimony:

Researcher should use simple and understandable language in explaining the phenomena
that occurs and also in generating solution for the problem. Because simple research is
always preferred over the complex research framework.
