Location Scouting

As our soap opera trailer is mainly shot

outside various large homes we scouted .
They are all large looking homes which
would look as though wealthy people lived
in them from the outside of the front door.
There had to be enough area for the
families to be able to stand outside and be
filmed in a mid shot to portray the drama
we wanted within our soap opera. All of
the houses will have similar coloured
bricks to give a community based feel to
the soap opera. This will imply they way all
the families are similar (with having
secrets behind closed doors) and also are
all interconnected which the storylines will
portray also. This will also help the viewer
with a feel of mix-up as the trailer is
implying the mix up of relationships within
the village and soap opera.
 We also needed to scout an area that could be
characters common ground, a coffee shop and
salon and a fitness centre. Although none of these
will actually feature in the soap opera trailer we
felt it was important to establish an image of these
locations to make the soap effective and planned
out. We looked for salons firstly and thought that
it would be best to choose a small privately ran
business to make the salon seem more exclusive
and

appealing to the wealthy lives of the characters in the soap.

This was also a similar concept to the coffee shop we planned
on using however the health club we thought would be best
extravagant to make sure the theme of wealth in the soap
came across.
