The 1927 Studebakers were offered again as Standard Six, Special Six, and Big Six .. But this was to be the

were standard equipment because the four-wheel brakes precluded the use of' spoke or wire: 'wheels on. the front, and apparently only the disc wheels would work. In 1928, by redesigning the front axle, wire or wooden wheels were once more in, 'use" ... The names President, Commander and Dictator were beginning to appear. In the middle to late 1927 early Commander and Dictator car's for '19.2·8 were Introduced. The President title was used on a mode of the Big Six cars for 1927. The 1928 Commanders were referred to as Model GB ~ They used a 353.8 cubic-inch engine, with a bore and stroke the same as in 1927 cars, but having an Increase in horsepower from. 75 to 85. The wheelbase also increased, from 1201 to '1,21 inches later in. the year with bhe introduction of Model G H Big Six. This was the final year for this power plant to be used. A, total of 3,1,276, uni.ts of bot . G B and G H series were produced during the 1'928 model run.

.. The Mode·· FB President arrived as a mid-season

model for 1928. It, along with the Commander, Dictator, and the newly-introduced Erskine, ~l were completely restyled. At the same time, the President Eight engine was redesigned with a larger bore. It now had a 336 cubic-inch displacement and was rated at 109 horsepower. The Model FB came on a 121-inch wheelbase. These models ranged in price from $1,685 to $1,850. The restyled bodies came with a new "polo cap" visor 'ather than a visor which was an extension of the roof Iine, A new radiator was fitted; and redesigned headlamps were used with a winged motif at the top. This inged style feature carried over to, the radiator and alsoto the. cowl lamps. The former Atalanta radiator cap used on 1927 and early 1928 models was phased out. The main chassis changes, other than the arger engine, was the introduction of Fafnir ball bearing shackles on

ruinated before the end, of '1'928~ So, if these models were, classed as 1929s, it would continue to confuse everyone as to the model year, since true 19:29' cars were radically different from these styles. It's really not the best situation to offer two identical model years to entirely different models.
