Understanding products that comes under ECA is very necessary and knowing the customer are
never simple. Customer are 100% farmers and fertilizer comes under there basic need. The
company thus carries some kind of research in order to know the customer better. Thus it is
better to conduct survey in order to know customers better. The main reason to conduct study is
to understand the customers. If some modifications are needed for product then it is recognized
by the study.

IFFCO is facing competition from the other players in the fertilizer market. To capture the

depending upon the limited size of the population.

METHODS OF DATA COLLECTION

I)Primary Data: Primary Data was collected through a detailed questionnaire survey taking in
consideration the objectives of the study. The questionnaires were filled by the customers of the
IFFCO.

ii) Secondary Data: Secondary data was collected from research reports and specialized books
for farmers.

FINDING

 Urea and NPK/DAP fertilizers are mostly used type of fertilizers, as biofertilizer is useful
for essential nutrients but awareness is less regarding biofertilizer.

 Source of information is mostly through friends and family, its shows trust and believe
regarding brand ,then through co-operatives and after that FSC and field officer

 Average user rate is from 10 to 20 years.

 Mostly farmers say fertilizer is available right time

 Very well famous brand in our surveyed area in fertilizer market is IFFCO, it is also best
in quality and availability.

 After IFFCO , GSFC and CHAMBAL fertilizer also provide soil testing facility on large
scale

 IFFCO provides various promotional activities the best thing we found that there is large
participation of farmers in that.

 IFFCO provides not only fertilizers but insurance scheme like “SANKAT HARAN
BEEMA YOJNA” on every fertilizer bag that is very beneficial for farmers.

 Mostly farmers found insurance claim very easily

 Fifty percentages need no change in any factor like pacakaging, quality, availability and
price etc.

CONCLUSION:

The sale prices of controlled fertilizers are fixed by the Government of India (Department of
Agriculture & Cooperation) under the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985(FCO), issued under
the Essential Commodities Act, 1955
KRIBCO has some shares in IFFCO that is being returned by IFFCO.Basically IFFCO has
monopoly in fertilizer market because it covered 35% share in fertilizer market. The main
competitors of IFFCO at Varanasi distt. Is Gujarat state fertilizer cooperation, National
fertilizers and Chambal fertilizers.
Main aim of IFFCO is to play a significant role in between farmer’s land productivity and
made in INDIA self dependent in agriculture and fertilizer market

INDIA is agricultural base company, but poor in the point of finance: our farmers are not so
rich that individual can purchase farming accessories. IFFCO plays a very vital role in this
area. For this every block society or FSC contain all farming article that are provided to
farmers at rent basis. Our surveyed farmer service center has Rs. 1600000 sale per month that
is very high in comparison to others.
It shows market potential in Varanasi District is excellent.
LIMITATIONS

 As it comes under ECA, so many IFFCO is not self decision maker.

 Advertising is limited to some states only.
 Availability of products especially DAP is not on time, due to that farmers have to move
to other products.
 State wise distribution is not similar in all states
 As customers are farmers, so they lack in understanding English.
 Government policies regarding fertilizer industries are not good.

SUGGESTIONS

 Subsidy should be given to farmers directly.

 There should be more production units for phosphate fertilizers
 IFFCO should tie up with SAP and SAS for giving more emphasis on analytical parts.
 Bio fertilizer production very less, so there should more production of bio fertilizers.
 IFFCO should be more self dependent in decision making, it gives organization a structured
and organized way to grow more.
 There should be more FSC and regarding distribution at FSC, IFFCO should make own
decisions.
 Like government IFFCO should also do survey regarding needs of fertilizers, make strategy
according to it.
