From what we can see featured in the
poster, it would imply that the target
audience for this movie are for a mature
audience. It would probably be rated as a
18 or as a 15 as a minimum.
Even though the main characters are only
children - in the synopsis it tells us they are
12 years old – the image suggests that it
will not be appropriate for a younger
audience.
As most good horror films contain at least
one child in the cast, this will appeal to the
target audience and persuade them to
watch the film.
The text also stated that the director of this
film also directed another horror film called
'Cloverfield' which would also stand out to
the audience as that was a successful film.
The audience would trust that this film
would also be at the same standard as
Cloverfield.
Some aspects of it breaks the RULE OF THIRDS
convention i.e. the film title, however, it seems the
main image keeps to this convention.

However, the
quality of the image
does make it stand
out more, making
the audience look
more in depth into
the image.

of one of the main characters,
whom we presume is the
antagonist.
Her pose indicates that even
though she is the antagonist,
she is still a child, meaning
she is vulnerable and scared
of what she is. This is
illustrated by the difference in
texture of the blood at the feet
and the arm.

The girl is also wearing a white

As mentioned in a previous slide, one of the director's well-
known successful films which is known worldwide is
mentioned to attract the audience to watch this film.

The use of colour is very consistent
which indicates that it is their brand.
The poster only uses three main colours:
red, white and black.
This colour scheme is often associated
with the horror genre as it always gives
off a uncomfortable and intimidating
atmosphere.
Even some of the text is in red to stand
out from the rest of the text.
