Judges Comments:
A solid class with a divergence of styles. The best wines had freshness with good clean acid. Some
wines were a little broad.
CLASS 2
Judges Comments:
Varied class; top wines excellent examples of two styles of chenin.
CLASS 3
Judges Comments:
Solid class, some a little light but most well made with positive fruit flavours.

CLASS 5
Judges Comments:
A solid class with a divergence of styles. The best wines had freshness with good clean acid.
Some wines were a little broad.
CLASS 6
Judges Comments:
Very strong class of wines with freshness and refinement together with attractive bottle development
and years to go.
CLASS 7
Judges Comments:
Generally disappointing. A lot of wines lack freshness and acid. No really poor wines but more attention
to maintain varietal character and freshness.
CLASS 8
Judges Comments:
Sound class with a couple of wines showing slightly heavy handed oak. Generally well made with
good fruit.
CLASS 9
WA Dry Whites
(open class - non Greater Perth Zone)
Judges Comments:
Another sound class of very good commercial quality. Most wines showed good fruit characters.
CLASS 10
WA Dry Reds
(open class - non Greater Perth Zone)
Judges Comments:
Strong class of well made wines.
CLASS 11
Judges Comments:
Strong class, with positive varietal fruit, well integrated oak and freshness.
CLASS 12
Judges Comments:
Very strong class reflecting good viticulture and winemaking. Very few faults with just a few wines
showing unripe tannins. Styles were diverse but best wines showed excellent balance and flavour.
CLASS 13
Judges Comments:
Solid but not outstanding. Wine lacked intensity of fruit. Petit Verdot was a highlight and showed
some promise.
CLASS 14
Sparkling Wines
(open class)
Judges Comments:
Diverse class. Most wines were well made. Best wines showed good balance and flavour. Sparkling
reds could have done with more work to achieve deeper complexity.
CLASS 15
Judges Comments:
Solid class of well made wines. Top wine with excellent balance & freshness.
CLASS 16
Judges Comments:
Outstanding class.
CLASS 17
Judges Comments:
Some quite new wines but a little more attention to brightening and livening the wines would help.
One very good wine out of class.
CLASS 18
Judges Comments:
Outstanding class. Very good examples of the style with one classic older style and two very good
younger styles.
CLASS 19
Judges Comments:
Outstanding class of wines. A pleasure to judge.
