MEDIA ADVISORY
Cincinnati Organized and Dedicated Employees (C.O.D.E) has joined forces with
nine additional well-respected groups to publicly and forcefully OBJECT to the
wasteful spending by the City of Cincinnati on the Streetcar boondoggle. We
encourage everyone who has a common interest in the BASIC services and
PUBLIC SAFETY and understand what true priorities really are and should be to
those that represent you (City Council) to speak out against this spending.
Please attend a public hearing and have your voice heard and show your support
for those of us fighting to keep our great City clean and safe. Laying off more
than 350 dedicated city employees, police officers and firefighters should be
unacceptable to everyone!
Included in the group is the NAACP, Baptist Ministers Conference, Fraternal
Order of Police, Local 48 Firefighters, Coalition For The Homeless, Coalition
Against Streetcar Swindle, Westwood Concern, Coalition Opposed to Additional
Spending & Taxes and C.O.D.E.
Frey says, "Standing up with this cross section of groups representing a variety
of causes is truly a historic victory to all of Cincinnati. Coming together to fight
for our respective employees, members and the citizens of Cincinnati by
demanding that City Hall stop their wasteful spending and get their priorities
back in line is the UNIFIED message we are all sending. We refuse to
conveniently forget campaign promises made to all of us that NO public safety or
Basic Services employees would be laid off. We have become the voice of the
people and we WILL BE HEARD.”
