Obesity Problems In America

‘here are many problems in America today. Some ofthese problems include water,
‘commuting ang transit, food, and health issues. A lot ofthese problems are connected in
‘some way or nother, and could grow overtime. Though these issues may seem small,
‘now, in five to ten years thoy could become leading problems ofthe world.
‘One ofthe biggest issues today is hcalth. Health sa problem al over the world, and a
lead cause offal issues is obesity. Obesity isa condition of having an excessive
amount of bodyfat. Being obese can inease your risk of having many health problems.
‘These problems incude diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, cancer, sleep apnea, a8
‘well as strokes and heart problems. In medical centers doctors are now treating up to 10
and 15% ofeildren for obesity related problems andthe numbers are going up.
‘i 2009 adult cbesity rates increased in twenty-three sates, however it did not decrease in
‘any. Almost a quarter of the population in New York is overweight. New York however
{an't the worst sate, Missi! is leading in both children at 44.4%, and adults at

Obesity can be caused by many problems. Tho main cause of becoming obese is
‘our life style. Food has become cheaper than in the pat, however the ehesper foods tend
tobe unhealthy. In America today we also tend tobe more in arush. We skip breakfast,
and thea munch all dy. We also grab a bite onthe way. This means that we eat more at
fastfood restaurants, such as McDonalds or Wendy's. Ono of our biggest problems of

‘us hungry, in which case we eat more. ‘The food however, ist our only problem: our
technology asc caries an important roe in obesity rates today. Our technology, though
‘helpful, can cause us problems. People are sting dow more, rather than walking, and
‘moving about. When going to work people drive, oF ride, rather than walking or biking,
and there are more jobs involved wit siting, rather than physical activites. Leisure
‘times are also problem. Our eisue activities involve computes, or TV. No longer do
‘go out for a wal, or to ride a bike. The way our lifestyle is has caused us to become
obese,‘There are many ways to stop ths problem fom occurring, Medicines and
surgeries may help, but will ot be the final answer. The way to have obesity rates drop
isto change our lifestyle, We can stat this by changing the way we eat, ifyou are
lnungry you ean ry apiece of fut. Frit thats high in coor tends to make you fe! full
afterwards, We can also limit our intake of fst food, sugar and soda. Tstead of going
‘ut to eat, you can plan more meals t home. Sometimes the rick to eating at home can
be eating at an eater time, You can also bring a bagged lunch if time doesnt allow a
home meal. Another way you can solve the problem of obosty is excrising, You can
exercise in many ways, such as walking, running, biking, and many more activities. If
time does not allow, you can always bike or walk to work. You ean also do this during
you're leisure time. Some exercises you can do while watching T.V. When the T.V. is
‘on you can do some simple stretches, jog in place, nd i porsible run on a treadmill.
‘Both watching what you cat, and exerising'can help to eliminate the obesity
‘problem, but the best way to help iso educate your ciliren. The children have not been
‘aught about obesity and need our help. Children who ae overweight have a much
highec chance of being overveight as an adult. If we educate our children now maybe
‘we'l have a brighter future tomorrow.
