DECIDING ON A COLOUR PALETTE:

Here I have experimented with a range of colours to see which ones work well together. In the first row
of colours I looked at purple, blue, orange and white. These colours work well together but will not
work on a music magazine because to colours are too bright and vibrant. Depending on the genre of the
music magazine, the colours need to fit the theme. For example for a rock magazine, the colours would
not be suitable because it wouldn’t meet the theme. People see ‘rock and roll’ as black and white and
dark colours, not bright. The second row of colours also works well together and I may consider using
them as a palette on my magazine. Although, if I do decide to use them, I will need to include a lot of
images because the text and background may make the palette quite boring. The third row of colours
are too bright for the genre of my magazine and they could distract the reader from some of the
features on each page. The fourth row of colours could work for the theme of my music magazine but it
depends what features I have on each page as they may take the focus away from the main image. I
have decided to use the colours in the fifth row because it works well with the theme of my magazine
and pictures will not be affected or distracted from this palette.
