CONNECTICUT GENERAL ASSEMBLYLEGISLATIVE PROGRAM REVIEW AND INVESTIGATIONS COMMITTEE
The Legislative Program Review and Investigations Committee is a bipartisan statutory committee of theConnecticut General Assembly. It was established in 1972 to evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness, and statutorycompliance of selected state agencies and programs, recommending remedies where needed. In 1975, the GeneralAssembly expanded the committee's function to include investigations, and during the 1977 session addedresponsibility for "sunset" (automatic program termination) performance reviews. The committee was givenauthority to raise and report bills in 1985.The program review committee is composed of 12 members. The president pro tempore of the Senate, theSenate minority leader, the speaker of the house, and the House minority leader each appoint three members.
