first year
Islandstudents in post-secondary studies
for the first time

There is no application for this award
. Your school will determine your eligibilityand the award will be automatically posted to your student account in January ofyour first year of studies.The George Coles Bursary Program:
recognizes the value of post-secondary education for Island students
invests in Island students to ensure access to post-secondary education
promotes the continued development of our publicly funded Island post-secondary education institutions.To receive the George Coles Bursary, students must meet
ALL
of the followingcriteria.
General Eligibility Criteria:
Students must:1. Be residents of P.E.I. which means:
must have graduated from an Island high school, or
are dependent students whose parent(s) are Island residents, or
are independent students who meet Island residency requirementsas stated in the Provincial Student Loan criteria. (You do notrequire a student loan to receive these awards), or
are landed immigrants with a valid Social Insurance Number.2. be enrolled in programs leading to a post-secondary degree, diploma orcertificate at UPEI, Holland College, or Collège Acadie î.-P.-É3. be first –time students at UPEI, Holland College, or Collège Acadie î.-P.-Éin their first undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate program4. be enrolled full-time (9 semester hours or 20 hours of instruction perweek) for a period of at least 24 consecutive weeks5. provide their Social Insurance Number6. have not previously received the George Coles Bursary7. not be receiving financial support including tuition subsidies, from any thirdparty agency or government department such as Skills Development,Indian and Northern Affairs, Worker’s Compensation, etc.
