Design and Make Your Own Coaster

For a cultural event in March, we will be making a table runner using the techniques of
Korea’s traditional ‘gyu-bang gong-ye’, or boudoir crafts.

The Yeoksam Global Village Center is organizing an event of making a cup coaster using the
techniques of Korean traditional patchwork. This kind of Korean craftwork is called gyu-bang
gong-ye and the word gyu-bang is the room where various crafts were made, and gong-ye
means crafts. Traditionally, they were made by women during the Joseon Dynasty period.

In the past, many items used in daily life were made using the methods of the Korean
patchwork. Nowadays, the gyu-bang gong-ye crafts are primarily used for decorative
purposes to preserve the traditional style.

Please join us and design your own traditional cup coaster. For those who would like to

Japchae is a Korean dish made from cellophane noodles (called dangmyeon), stir
