Encik Nizam the Fisherman

Nizam is a fisherman who lives in Kuala Terengganu. He is twenty-four years old. He lives near
the sea in a litte wooden house. The house is built on stilts. Every morning, Nizam goes to the
sea at about five o’clock. He rows his boat to a place where there is a lot of fish. Then he
anchors his boat and casts his net and waits patiently. His younger brother, Othman,
accompanies him. They both eat a simple but nutritious breakfast while waiting. After a few
hours the net is filled with fish. They pull the net in and row back to shore. By this time the
beach is crowded with people who come to buy the catch from fisherman like Nizam.

Buying a Shirt

Mr.Lee went to a shopping mall two days before Chinese New Year. He wanted to buy new
clothers to wear on that special day. Mr.Lee rushed into the Men’s Department. He was
fascinated to see many types of shirts and trousers on display. He was taken aback when a sales
girl recommended a bright red shirt to him. It over-ecited sales girl was of no help either.
Finally, he found something that was attractive, smart and trendy and above all, cheaply priced.

Krishnan the Gardener

Krishnan is a gardener. He has been a gardener for fifty years. Krishnan is about seventy-two
years old now. He is a very strong and healthy man.

Everyday he weeds and waters plants. He also plants new flowering plants. Most of the time,
his employer gives him the money to buy whatever plants he likes. Krishnan is an expert in
choosing plants. He knows all about them and has ‘green fingers’ which means that whatever
he plants, they will definitely grow well.
An Honest deed

On one busy Saturday , Mr.Michelle who is a taxi driver, picked up a passenger from airport. He
was a tall foreigner and wanted to go to a five star hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Whwn they reached
the hotel, the foreigner paid Mr.Michelle and got down.

On the way back to his home, Mr.Michelle realised that there was something at the backseat.
He turned around a black briefcase. He opened it and discovered a wad of notes. They were in
US dollars. He quickly returned to the hotel and handed the briefcase back to its owner. The
latter was so grateful and praised Mr.Michelle for his honesty. Much to his suprise, the
foreigner gave Mr.Michelle a reward or RM500.00.
