Communication Resources

This is a brief listing of communication resources you can use to get the word out about the great work of your
committee or group, an event your group is sponsoring, or otherwise share what is happening at Hennepin with
the church family as well as the community at large. There is so much opportunity at Hennepin, and sharing that
information starts with you. Daniel Pederson (Daniel@haumc.org 612-435-1325) is Communications Manager
at Hennepin Church and can work with you to help share your story. Please contact him with any questions.

Sunday Spire
The weekly announcements that accompany each worship bulletin.
DEADLINE: 10:00 AM Monday for the coming Sunday.
You may submit your information (approx. 50 words) online at: HennepinChurch.org (choose
“Share Your Story”), email to: Spire@haumc.org, or leave at church attn: Daniel. Please indicate
in your request that you would like it placed in the Sunday Spire and include your contact
information. Information is subject to editing for length, style, content and timeliness.

!nSpire Newsletter
The monthly newsletter that is mailed to our membership.
DEADLINE: 10:00 AM on the third Thursday of the month for the coming month.
You may submit your information online at: HennepinChurch.org (choose “Share Your Story”),
email to: Spire@haumc.org, or leave at church attn: Daniel. Please indicate in your request that
you would like this placed in the !nSpire Newsletter; include your contact information. Stories
may be longer than for the Sunday Spire (up to 300-400 words) but smaller notices are fine, too.
All information is subject to editing for length, style, content and timeliness.
HennepinChurch.org ~ Website
You may submit information for the church website at any time. Depending on the design and layout
requirements, allow for at least 2 business days (more for video and graphic designs) for information to
be posted. Please submit your information online at: HennepinChurch.org (choose “Share Your Story”),
email to: Spire@haumc.org, or leave at church attn: Daniel. Please indicate in your request that you
would like this placed on the website; include your contact information. There are many options for
sharing info online. Talk with Daniel to see what we can do for you!

Brochures/Posters/Programs
Contact Daniel if you need help designing printed materials. He or another staff member can help you
get the word out with attractive designs. Plan for two meetings (in person or by email/phone) one to talk
about the idea/design, and one to proof and approve the work. If your item will be printed in color,
you’ll need to have a “color code” from your ministry area and to budget for this expense.

You may submit information to be considered for these displays at any time. There are limits to what
can be practically put on these displays (number of words, size/resolution of graphics, etc), so it is best
to consult with Daniel about your ideas.

Media/Paid Advertising (Print, Radio, etc.)


Occasionally, an event you are sponsoring could use some outside publicity. Contact Daniel to discuss
your options, ideas and budget. A small print ad can be several hundred dollars (and up). Deadlines for
reserving space in a particular edition vary widely from publication to publication, so plan ahead, and
check with Daniel. Thanks to a Foundation Grant we are running spots on The Current (89.3 FM) this
year. Talk with Daniel to see if that might be a fit for your special event!

Postcards/Letters/Mailings
Contact Jodi Gustafson if you need help with mailings. Jodi can be reached by phone at 612-435-1325
or email at Jodi@haumc.org. She can advise you about timelines, printing/mailing specifications and the
cost associated with your mailing.
