ASSIGN TO: Bonnie Brae Elementary School

ASSIGN FROM: Fairview Elementary School

An area along Fairfax Station Road east of Fairfax County Parkway


including: Beaumont, Smoke Rise, and Barton Place.

RATIONALE: This change will reduce membership and the need for additional
classrooms at Fairview Elementary School by using available capacity at
Bonnie Brae Elementary School.

PHASING: Phase-In by Grade:

MEMBERSHIP: With the above attendance area change, membership at Bonnie Brae
Elementary School will be 747 students in 2011-12, increasing to 783
students in 2015-16, with a capacity of 805.

Membership at Fairview Elementary School (including Clifton students)


will be 719 students in 2011-12, declining to 696 students in 2015-16,
with a capacity (including future interior modifications) of 748. The
current capacity of Fairview is 648 students.

RATIONALE: These changes are among several affecting Brookfield, Cub Run, and
Poplar Tree Elementary Schools that will help balance enrollment

capacity of 576.

Membership at Poplar Tree Elementary School (including all


recommended changes) will be 741 in 2011-12, declining to 720 in 2015-
16, with a capacity of 741.

An area generally north and west of O’Day Drive including: Barros Circle,

and, The Courts of Riverwind.

RATIONALE: This change is among a series of changes in the area that will help
balance enrollment between over and underutilized facilities in the study.

Road (excluded), and north along Clifton Road.

RATIONALE: These changes utilize available capacity in adjacent schools to implement


the Schools Board’s decision to close Clifton Elementary School.

PHASING: Reassignment from Clifton Elementary School is for grades K-6 in school
year 2011-12.

MEMBERSHIP: With the above attendance area adjustments, membership at Fairview


Elementary School (including all changes) will be 719 in 2011-12
declining to 696 in 2015-16, with a capacity of 748 (including 4
classrooms obtained through interior modifications).

Membership at Oak View Elementary School (including all changes) will


be 778 in 2011-12, declining to 746 in 2015-16, with a capacity of 761.

Membership at Union Mill Elementary School will be 831 in 2011-12,


increasing to 939 in 2013-14 (including all changes), then declining to 882
in 2015-16, with a capacity of 950 (including the 8 classroom addition).

Clifton Elementary School would be closed at the end of the 2010-11


school year.

declining to 783 in 2015-16, with a capacity of 908.

Membership at Fairfax Villa Elementary School will be 415 in 2011-12,


increasing to 548 in 2013-14 and 564 in 2015-16, with a capacity
(including the 6 classroom addition) of 582.

Membership at Greenbriar East Elementary School will be 785 in 2011-


12, increasing to 898 in 2013-14 and 944 in 2015-16, with a capacity
(including the 8 classroom addition) of 950.
