The Nolan Stage Model: the first growth stage is known as initiation stage
where the tech. is placed in an organization. Also few applications in org. are
computerised

Stage two is known as growth stage or expansion stage where many users adopt
computers in order to solve IT related problems.

Stage 3 is known as formalisation or control stage. In this stage organizations


gain control over the technology’s resources by implementing formal controlled
process.

Stage 4 is maturity or integration stage. By this stage organizations gain


sufficient experience in IS applications.

Stage 5 is stage of data admin. This stage features emphasis on managing corp
data other than IT

Stage 6 is termed as maturity stage and this can be considered as an advanced


growth model. This stage indicates that application portfolio is complete and
coincides the obj of an organization.
