Honourable Iris Evans

Minister of International and Intergovernmental Affairs
408 Legislature Building
10800 - 97 Avenue N.W.
Edmonton, Alberta T5K 2B6

Dear Minister Evans,

Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation from the position of Alberta's official representative (Minister-
Counsellor) in Washington, D.C. effective immediately.

It has been a great honour to serve Albertans as their representative in the United States. The pleasure of working for a
seem :~~~to~~!st~nZ~~ertans and the future welJ being of the prov~nce has made the distance from friends and family

I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish on the international stage in the three years I held this position.
Alberta's focus in Washington, D.C. has helped us make great progress in conveying our message to administration
officials, politicians and policy makers at both the federal and state levels in the United States.

Personally, the highlight from my time in the United States has been the opportunity to meet the many Albertans who
spend time working in Washington, D.C. I learned a great deal from these individuals, whether they are leaders of
Alberta business and industry, students, or young professionals serving as interns. I was always impressed by their
commitment to improving the province's place in the world.

I wish you, your colleagues and the excellent staff in Alberta's Washington D.C. Office success as this important work
continues. Thank you for the opportunity to serve Albertans in this role as well as for your support as my Minister.

Sincerely,

GaryG. Mar
