DiMarzio won a battle of the bands for the right to get the on the stage
at the UNC Dance Marathon last month, and apparently folks loved it.

blend. Catch him at Jack Spratt Café on March 26 and in the Pit on April 1.

Best CUAB event of the year

Winner: Big Boi
Ten bucks is a pretty good value for any performance, and Memorial Hall’s
1,400-something seats sold out quickly in January for Big Boi, an immense-
ly popular hip-hop artist who forms one half of the beloved duo Outkast,
and inspired a considerable student response on campus, according to our
friends at the DTH. “He’s one of those artists who you may not know
right away, but Outkast has a lot of fans, and his solo album last year was
really well received,” said CUAB president Tyler Mills.

of the gender-beholder. Since the UNC undergraduate population is domi-
nated by those of the female persuasion (as were the entrants in this year’s
contest) we can only translate this all to mean that this is where the boys
are?

Favorite female athlete
Winner: Jessica Breland, basketball
To say Jessica Breland’s return to athletic competition this year is amazing
would be the understatement of the young millennium. You voted Breland
your favorite UNC female athlete roughly two years after the senior from
Bertie County was diagnosed with a form of cancer. She underwent six-
months of chemotherapy treatments at UNC Hospitals, during which she
missed the entire 2009-10 season. Her play has carried the Tar Heels all this
season, and she willed her team to the final of the ACC Tournament after
the Heels experienced a four-game slide to end the regular season.

CF note: As you can imagine, there are as many of these as there are col-

really specific descriptions here, rather than “Winning the national champi-

Best professor
Winner: C.J. “Charles” Skender
“I’m very honored and flattered,” Skender said when reached at his Kenan-
Flagler Business School office. Skender has been an adjunct professor in the
B-School since 1997, so as you can imagine he has some tricks up his sleeve
to get ahead in this kind of grueling competition.

“I give out candy bars.” Well yes, that would do it. He also attributed his
win to the fact that he teaches a lot of students. His BUS 100 and BUS 101
accounting courses regularly fill up 400 seats in the B-School auditorium. CF
appreciates the humility, however we also know he plays music before class
starts and shows movie clips during class. He also says he gives his students a
ton of practice guides, which they like. We give him a definite credit to com-
pany equity.
