Teaching and Testing:


 Israelites stayed at Mt. Sinai for about a year.
 Set out across the desert which was made up of 3 regions:
o Dry and sandy, little or nothing grew
o Rocky, with a few water springs
o Semiarid, with just enough green to feed the flocks
 Throughout their journey, there were problems:
o Problems from Within:
 People grew weary and complained to Moses
 Rebels challenged Moses’ leadership
o Problems from Outside:
 Foreign kings would not let them pass through their
lands
 Finally after 40 years they reached the Promised Land!!!
o Size of Vermont, fertile valley, Mediterranean to the west,
sea of Galilee to the North, Dead Sea to the South, all
linked by the Jordan River

Lesson 31 Journey’s
End
 Their time in the desert taught the Israelites a bout their
weaknesses and God’s fidelity and power.
 The Pentateuch, Jewish Torah, ends with the death of Moses.
o Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy
o These books form the foundation of the Bible
