Selection Of Topic
Be passionate:-
Never choose a subject which you feel indifferent
about it
Define Your Purpose:-
Think about the purpose of essay you must write. Is
your purpose to persuade people to believe as you do,
to explain to people how to complete a particular
task, to educate people about some person, place,
thing or idea, or something else entirely? Whatever
topic you choose must fit that purpose.
Continue:
• Brainstorm Subjects of Interest:-
Once you have determined the purpose of
your essay, write down subjects that interest you.
Evaluate Each Potential Topic:-
If you can think of at least a few topics that would be
appropriate, you must simply consider each one individually.
Think about how you feel about that topic. If you must educate,
be sure it is a subject about which you are particularly well-
informed.Of course, the most important factor in choosing a
topic is the number of ideas you have about that topic.
Never choose a worn out topic:-
It is no doubt tempting to choose something ready-made instead
of going deep into the preparation stage. The time spent
preparing for the writing process makes up half of its final
success. Continue:
The resources for your topic are readily
available.
Choose a topic which you can present
quantitatively and are based on facts.
Limiting Of Topic
There are three steps in limiting your topic:
Look for connections among the ideas you have
recorded.
Let some ideas go for now.
Find a phrase that shows the connection among the
ones you keep.

Continue:
A thesis statement is usually one
sentence.
It is often placed in the
introductory paragraph of an essay.
A thesis statement is a claim that
could be argued.
The essay will contain evidence and
opinions that support the argument.
Thesis statements avoid the
following:
the first person (I believe, In my opinion, etc.)
unclear language (It seems, etc.)
attempting two topics at once (even if they seem
related). Pick one and stick with it.
just stating a fact - A thesis is something you plan to
make an argument about.
A thesis cannot be a fragment; it must express a
complete thought
Continue:
• A thesis must not be worded as a question.
(Sometimes the answer to the question can be the
thesis)
A thesis must not be too broad.
A thesis should not contain unrelated elements.
A thesis should not contain phrases like “I think” or “in
my opinion” because they weaken the writer’s
argument.
A thesis should not be expressed in vague language.
A thesis must not be expressed in muddled or
incoherent language
