The in class writing titled “bowling” is about the ethnography we read about a bowling

alley. It was planned to give us ideas on how to write an ethnography and showed us
expectations on what to do and not to do. It told us a main theme of what the bowling alley was
truly about and it was about togetherness and family. Being a family owned business and a
cheerful atmosphere the writer clearly got the understanding of the community she studied.
Lastly, it taught us how to combine and put together all of our papers into a one piece paper that
flowed well and make it an easy read.
The second in class writing I wrote about is about a class reading and has more meaning
than what is actually written. The reading we read had a term known as “writing it down to write
it up”. This is a great way to explain such a tactic. It simply means that you as an observer write
something down just to get the basics down and to write more stuff down quickly then at a later
time to write it up, such as getting in to detail and explaining it better.
The “Interview” blog is my most detailed well written blog. It clearly describes the
atmosphere of the bowling alley that the writer studies and what the people are doing in the
community. She vividly describes what the people say to each other and quotes them greatly. In
conclusion, the writer does not only interview people, but puts valuable responses into her essay
which tells us about the community at the bowling alley.
“Coming Together,” is my last blog entry that I chose. It pretty much sums up how to put
an ethnography all together. We wrote three separate papers of what we observed, how we relate
to our community, and interviewing people, but how do you put it all together to flow into one
piece? This section shows you how I knew how to put everything together and put the puzzle
pieces together to make the final puzzle.
A lot of revisions have been made in my final paper. My first paper was a disorganized
mess that wasn’t well explained and I changed that around in a heartbeat. My second paper was
better, but had to get more detailed within the community and people. My third paper I stepped
up my game and I believe wrote a well written paper. With these three writings I put together
one big ethnography that is well written that I hope you enjoy.
I’ve learned as a writer that I need to organize my thoughts better and be more detailed in
my writing. Being more detailed by explaining things more fully makes all the difference in
writing. Obviously being organized is a major factor in writing and I need to take my time
revising and mixing and matching everything around. In the future I believe I still need to revise
better and make sure I don’t make the same mistakes I have made in the past out of habit.
