RAMAYANA PARAYANAM
18 JULY – 15 AUGUST ‘10
A unique samparka programme has been started this year making use of the people’s interest
in Ramayana parayanam. During July – August, referred to as Ramayana month in Kerala. In an
attempt to popularize the programme, of Ramayana Parayana and conduct it more
meaningfully Shri Rajappanji and Su Bindu visited 31 houses during the month with a group of 4
children from the Samskar varga and they did the Ramayana Parayana followed by a simple
puja in each house. A Ramayana book and Sri Rama’s picture were presented to each house on
the last day. The Samapan Utsav was conducted in Kendra and the Message of Ramayana was
delivered by Prof. Jayasree Sukmaran. Sri Krishnaswamiji and Smt. Rekha from Madurai were
present at the function.
The Independence Day was duly celebrated by the students of Sishuvihar, their parents,
inmates of Vivekananda Kendra and a few guests with flag hoisting, sweet distribution and
patriotic songs. This was followed by a meeting of parents.

Smt Hema, Senior teacher of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was the Chief Guest. After
deepa prajwalan, little cha‐cha Nehru addressed the audience. This was followed by
a ‘DO AS YOU LIKE‘ by the tiny tots. Bindu teacher gave Vote of thanks.

A soul filling cultural programme was
organized in collaboration with
International centre for Kudiattam.
Renowned artist Smt Margi Sati, and
the accompanying artists kept the
audience spellbound held at
Anandadham on the evening of 13th
November’10.
The theme was based on the life of
legendary character‘Kannagi’. Those
who watched the performance felt
truly blessed by the extraordinary
power of presentation.

INAUGURATION OF SRI SARADA MATRU MANDIRAM AND MATRU PUJA .
Sri Sarada Matrumandir the new guest house in Ananda Dham was inaugurated on
December 19 by Rev Dhruvaprana Mataji of Sri Sarada Math, Trissur. She attended the
Matripuja by present and ex Sishuvihar children. Later Mataji gave her benediction to
the mothers of the mothers of these children. More than 100 people attended.

Ananda Dham had the unique
honour of once again being the
venue for the conference,
deliberation and demonstration of
Sri Vidyopasakas from all over
Kerala. On the first day the
Programme started with Ganapathy
Homam by Sri Surya Kaladi. This
was followed by inauguration of the
Sangamam. About 500 people

followed. After this there was a
series of enlightened talks by
renowned upasakkas.

On the second day there was Samuhika archana with
chanting of Sri Lalitha Sahasranama. In the evening
the Srichakra was brought from the Bhagavathi
temple by Sri Vikraman Adigal. A long procession of
devotees followed the ratha. Srichakra pooja was
done by the Swaminees of Irangovimala of Tamilnadu
who had specially come to conduct the Navarana
Puja .

New year dawned for us with the splendour of ‘Surya Kiran’ – Samuhika Surya namaskar progamme which is
becoming more and more popular. This was held on 9th Jan 2011 at Gurusree Public School ground. Sri
Sangameswaran – Manager of the school, Sri Vinod – Secretary, Parent – Teacher’s Association, respected Sri
Hanumanth Rao, All India Treasurer V.K. Kanyakumari who was the Chief Guest graced the programme and
addressed the participants. Ma. Lakshmi didi who gave the welcome address stressed the significance of
practising Surya Namaskar every day in building up health of both body and mind. 730 children from 11 schools
participated. Our VK Samskarvarga children also took part. Programme started sharp at 7.30 am with prayer and
ended with Shantimantra at 9.00 a.m. Master Amal of Gurusree School was honoured for getting fifth rank in
Yoga Olympiad held at Svyasa, Bangalore.
SPIRITUAL RETREAT
21 & 22 JANUARY 2011
A two days’ spiritual retreat was conducted with Srimad Swami Nirmalanandagiriji
as the Acharya. This was more of an adhyatmic study class on the theme “Pravritti
and Nivritti” based on Bhagavad Gita. From the morning of 21st to evening of 22nd
devotees got the golden opportunity to be in the live vibrant presence of Rev.
Swamiji. There were five lecture sessions each day from morning 7 am to night
9.30pm, with short breaks for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. After dinner
usually a question answer session was kept so that devotees could get their
doubts cleared. On the 22nd evening the retreat ended with Guru dakshina. About
hundred devotees attended the retreat. All of them preferred to stay in our
campus making it a fully residential spiritual retreat This experience has given
confidence to us to organize more in depth studies of this kind in future.

CELEBRATION OF REPUBLIC DAY
This year Republic Day coincided with Swamiji’s birthday according to the Indian
Calendar and the day was celebrated emphasizing the significance of both.
Respected Lakshmi Didi hoisted the flag. After the Rashtrageet the emphasis
shifted to Swamiji. Firstly to acquaint the gathering, which included Sishuvihar
children, their family members, a number of yoga participants and our regular team
of well wishers, with Swamiji’s life, a short documentary on Swami Vivekananda’s
life was shown. Those who had not seen the Vishwa Bhanu Exhibition were asked to
visit the same during the tea break. After this the elders were asked to pick up
small chits containing thoughts of Swamiji, contemplate on it and speak a few
words. This was appreciated by many of the participants who felt that the
thoughts they chose exactly fitted what they wanted for themselves. The finale
was a grand lunch which had a variety of dishes brought by the participants. The

Samuhik Bhojanam
JANUARY 29TH2011
One full day programme was kept on the 29 January. The morning session was
used to conduct patriotic group song and folk group song competitions. A total of
80 children from six schools took part. In the public programme organized after
lunch Prof. Radhakrishnan from Palakad, who has started a vibrant youth forum
called Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam and well versed in Swamiji’s literature
was invited as the Chief Guest. Dr N.M. Vijayan, Kendra’s long standing well‐
wisher, presided. The day was also celebrated as the Annual Day of our
Sandeepani Sishuvihar. Apart from the main speeches there was also a cultural
show by the children of Sandeepani Sishuvihar and Jai Sri Ma Samskar varga.
There was a beautiful yoga demonstration by about twenty two children from
HDPY School which won much appreciation. The shield for the Patriotic Song was
claimed by the H.D.P.Y. Public school and the one for the Folk Song went to Sri Sai
Vidya Niketan. Nine meritorious children from Govt. Girl’s High School were given
scholarships on the occasion.
