INFORMATION  FOR  
PRINCIPALS  &  PUBLIC  SPEAKING  COORDINATORS  

x PURPOSE:  
1. To  develop  the  Public  Speaking  and  talking/listening  skills  of  students  K-­‐6.  
2. To  provide  Public  Speaking  opportunities  for  students  at  school,  network  and  regional  
level.  
3. To   maintain   the   strong   tradition   of   Public   Speaking   in   the   eastern   part   of   Sydney  
Region.    
4. To   continue   to   support   the   regional   Public   Speaking   model   and   compliment   other  
competitions  across  Sydney  Region.  
 
x ORGANISATION:  
In   2011   schools   will   be   in   2   geographical   divisions   as   below   for   the   first   part   of   the  
competition:  
1. Botany   Bay   Network   schools   and   geographically   close   Network   8   schools   located  
south  of  Bondi  Regional  Office.  
2. Port   Jackson   Network   schools   and   geographically   close   Network   8   schools   located  
north  of  Bondi  Regional  Office.  
The  competition  is  stage  based  ʹ  that  is:  ES1  (K);  S1  (Yrs  1  &  2);  S2  (Yrs  3  &  4)  &  S3  (Yrs  5  &  6).  
Schools  may  enter  one  student  per  stage.  
There  will  be  2  Finals  held  for  the  above   divisions  and  then  a  Grand  Final  to  choose  Sydney  
East  Public  Speaking  winners  who  will  go  forward  to  the  Sydney  Region  Final.  
 
x KEY  DATES/VENUES:  
1. First  Round  Finals:  20/10/11  at  Chifley  Public  School  &  Rose  Bay  Public  School.  
2. Sydney  East  Grand  Final:  26/10/11  at  Bellevue  Hill  Public  School.  
3. Sydney  Region  Public  Speaking  Final:  15/11/11  at  Engadine  West  Public  School.  
 
x REGISTRATION/COST:  
To  register  your  school  please  complete  the  details  on  the  next  page  &  fax  to  Chifley  PS.   An  
entry   fee   of   $35   per   student   (that   is   a   maximum   of   $140   if   schools   enter   students   in   all   4  
stages)   will   be   charged   to   all   competing   schools   to   cover   costs   of   adjudicators,   certificates,  
medals  and  regional  competition  fees.
