Join us for the 4th of July Spectacular on Weyand Field, formerly Sills Field, Schofield Barracks from 9:00 am 9:00 pm. The day long festivities include a 5K Fun Run, Childrens 1 mile Fun Run, games, rides, food booths, craft bazaar, fireworks and live entertainment, including a free concert performed by local headliners, Nesian N.I.N.E, Rebel Souljahz and Natural Vibrations! Blue Star Card holders will receive 5 FREE tickets per Blue Star Card Family Member, as well as free VIP seating passes per Blue Star Card Family Member. Registration is required for tickets and VIP seating passes. Visit www.bluestarcardhawaii.com to register by June 27. No VIP seating passes or tickets will be available after the deadline. Tickets and VIP seating passes will be distributed the day of the event in the Blue Star Card tent. The Blue Star Card tent will be open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Animoto I, July 21 SGT Yano Library Interested in creating quick and easy videos to share with your Soldier or loved ones? Bring your digital photos (approximately 30-50 pictures) to SGT Yano Library on Thursday, July 21 at 10 am to learn how to use Animoto. (Although there is a free online version, we will be using the professional version for this class). Animoto allows people to make professional looking videos with images and music. Its a great way to make use of your digital photos! Spaces for this class are limited. To reserve your space or for additional information contact Amanda.P.Montgomery@us.army.mil or call 655-0002.

Walk off the Wait, July 19 Hawaii Loa Ridge Join your Blue Star Card friends on our next Walk off the Wait hike to Hawaii Loa Ridge. This hike offers stunning views of Hawaii Kai and Waikiki on the south side of Oahu as you clamber through windblown and grassy ridges and eerie tunnel-like guava groves. At the top you will be able to gaze at spectacular views of the windward and southern coasts. This is a 3.5 out of 5 star hike and no children under 15 should attend. Space is limited and transportation is available. Registration is required, call 655-0002 or email Amanda.P.Montgomery@us.army.mil to reserve your space.

Super Saturday Childcare, July 30 Fort Shafter CDC & Fort Shafter Youth Center Super Saturday will be held on July 30, from 9 am 2 pm at Fort Shafter CDC and Fort Shafter Youth Center. To participate in Super Saturday Childcare, patrons must be Blue Star Card holders. Reservations may be made as early as 30 days prior to the event. For more information on Super Saturday or to make a reservation, call the Schofield Barracks CYS Services Registration Office at 655-5314 or the AMR Registration Office at 833-5393. Big R: Movies by the Moonlight, Megamind, July 30 Tropics Dont miss the first film in the Movies by Moonlight series, Megamind, at 7:30 pm on July 30 on the Tropics Volleyball Court. Blue Star Card holders and family members will receive a special snack as well as free movie passes to any Consolidated Theatre, while supplies last. Registration is required. Call 655-0002 or email amanda.p.montgomery@us.army.mil to register before July 22.

Spouses of deployed Soldiers are eligible to sign up for a Blue Star Card, which will give you discounts at FMWR facilities, activities and special events. Your Blue Star Card will be valid throughout the entire deployment. To get your card, visit Army Community Service on Schofield Barracks or Fort Shafter.

Parents Night Out

Parents Night Out will be held June 4 (AMR CDC and AMR Youth Center), June 25 (Schofield CDC and Schofield School Age Center). Health and Fitness Center Kids on Site Information:

The Kids on Site care for the Health and Fitness center will remain free for valid Blue Star Card holders, Mon.-Fri., 8-11 a.m., at Kaala Community Activities Center, Bldg. 556. Registration is required. For more information please call 655-8628.

INGREDIENTS cup of white chocolate chips 6 large marshmallows Finley shredded coconut Chocolate sandwich cookie (pictured is chocolate covered Oreo) 6 Cashews Black decorators gel DIRECTIONS 1. Melt cup of white chocolate chips according to the package directions. 2. For each bird, drop a large marshmallow into the melted chocolate, using a spatula to coat it well. 3. Remove marshmallow from the chocolate and roll it in finely shredded coconut, leaving one end uncovered. 4. Immediately set the marshmallow, coconut free end down, atop a chocolate sandwich cookie. 5. Let the chocolate set a bit, then use a toothpick to make a hole in the side of the marshmallow and insert a cashew for a beak. 6. Finally, add black decorators gel eyes.
