b) Draw the diagram sliding spool type direction control valve and
explain the operating controls.

2.a) What are the different types of hydraulic pumps? How do we


specify them?
b) What are the important factors to be considered while selecting the
hydraulic pumps?

3.a) Explain the various applications of linear and rotary actuators.


b) What are the different types of linear actuators? How do we specify
them? What are the various factors to be considered while
selecting the linear actuators?

4.a) How the higher pressure improves the sealing effect? Discuss the
important functions of seals.
b) What are static seals and dynamic seals? Explain with suitable
examples.

5.a) What are the common designs of air motors? Explain the
application of such air motors.
b) Classify the hydraulic cylinders and explain any two hydraulic
cylinders.

6. Draw the suitable sequencing circuit to control the movement of


the drill and the clamp in the automated drilling machine. Explain
the important elements used in the circuit and the salient points of
this circuits.
