I did not expect the Bay to live up the photos Id seen. I was 100% wrong! Halong Bay is a gorgeous place, full of beauty and wonder. A piece of paradise on earth.

By far one of the most beautiful cities Ive ever visited. Truly spectacular. I felt as though Id walked through a time-warp. The integrity of the buildings and streets from a by-gone era has been preserved with the utmost care. Antigua Guatemala feels like a living museum.

ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA
Antigua, the capital of the Captaincy-General of Guatemala, was founded in the early 16th century. Built 1,500 meters above sea level, in an earthquake-prone region, it was largely destroyed by an earthquake in 1773 but its principal monuments are still preserved as ruins. In the space of under three centuries the city, which was built on a grid pattern inspired by the Italian Renaissance, acquired a number of superb monuments.

Youll be staring at a 254-foot-high waterfall and the 16 interconnected turquoise lakes. Youll hear choruses of frogs in the reeds and may spot some of the wildlife: birds, bears, butterflies and bats. You can cross one of the lakes via boat, and its like sailing on glass.

PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK, CROATIA The waters flowing over the limestone and chalk have, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams that in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These geological processes continue today. The forests in the park are home to bears, wolves and many rare bird species.

The magic of Petra is the total scale and intricateness of the area. Everyone knows the famous treasury building, but thats just the start of an epic journey through a jaw-dropping city of buildings and human feats of engineering.

PETRA, JORDAN Inhabited since prehistoric times, this Nabataean caravan-city, situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the worlds most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture.

IGUAU NATIONAL PARK, BRAZIL The park shares with Iguaz National Park in Argentina one of the worlds largest and most impressive waterfalls, extending over some 2,700 meters. It is home to many rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, among them the giant otter and the giant anteater. The clouds of spray produced by the waterfall are conducive to the growth of lush vegetation.

It is such a joy just to gaze at the Opera House from different angles, at different times of day (and night). It didnt disappoint from up close, either. Such a pleasure to run your hands over the concrete bricks and ceramic tiles. And the inside was stunning, too. Superb acoustics.

This is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind place. Even the very best photographs do not do it justice. Stunning views, everywhere you look. The sunset? Like none youve ever seen. Midday? Beautiful. During the spring or fall, you might get a beautiful warm day and snowfall during the same trip.
