Definition: A Right Choice means making the right decision and choosing to do something that is good for you or others. Every day we are faced with choices. You are responsible for the choices you make. You make a choice to listen or not. You make a choice to do homework or not. It is important to make good choices. Listen to the following sentences; show thumbs up if you believe the choice made was a good choice and thumbs down if you believe it was a bad choice. You watch television instead of doing homework. (thumbs down) You study so that you can pass your spelling test. (thumbs up) You eat candy for lunch. (thumbs down) You throw a book on the ground. (thumbs down) You go to bed when you are supposed to. (thumbs up) As time allows, present more situations. Encourage students to be aware of the choices they make during the day. Review the definition of Right Choices. (good) The girl in front of you accidentally dropped her wallet. She did not realize, it fell out of her purse. The wallet has R500/- in it. You are the only one around. Ask students to tell what they would do in that situation and ask why they made the choice they did. Explain to students that every choice has a consequence. Teacher narrates a short story on:- Discipline Discipline Gaurav was a fourth grade student. He was a good boy, always smiling and did well in his studies. However, he had one bad habit. He would never wake up early in the morning. Due to this, he was always on his toes in the morning. Bathing, getting dressed, eating breakfast was all done at a maddening pace. His parents always advised him to be more disciplined, but, it all fell on deaf ears. One day, as usual Gaurav was getting ready for school. He ran out of his room. His father saw him and asked him to slow down and eat his breakfast. Gaurav replied that he had no time. He picked up a sandwich and rushed out. His father just smiled. Gaurav managed to reach school just in time. He was surprised to find the school deserted. He wandered in and found the principal. The principal seeing him asked, How come you are here at school? Didnt you know its a strike? Anyway, it is good that you are here, now you can help me with my work. Gauravs heart sank. He had no idea what to do. The only solution was to finish the principals work fast and go home. Alas, he was wrong. The principal first made him to write down the names of all the students in the fifth grade in the register book. Then he made him go to each classroom to keep dusters and chalk. All of this took up almost half the day. Gaurav was famished. After finishing all the tasks the principal gave him permission to leave. Gaurav decided to eat his lunch. He realized, in his hurry he had forgotten to carry lunch box. He started his journey back home. He was waiting for the bus when a passerby reminded him that the transport services were stalled due to the strike. He had to walk for 5 kms.
Ultimately G Gaurav reac ched home tired and hungry. He s saw his dad and d asked him if he too w went to the office and returned h home. His f father replied, No I knew the was a str o, ere rike. Gau ere urav realized his mistake He apolog d e. gized to his parents and swore to be more disciplined in future, be e d ecause Discipline is the secre to a fruitf life. et ful he he Teacher will ask few questions to th students related to th story.
