DISCUSSION Last Minutes of Meeting nd The last minutes of meeting held on 22 July 2011 was distributed. Amendments for last minutes of meeting :nd (1) Page 4 of 4 Updates on School Calendar, 2 paragraph, Mrs Low should be spelt as Mrs. Lau. (2) Page 4 of 4 Sec. 4 Motivation Talks, rephrase of 1st paragraph to The motivation talks given to the students last year were not as useful as expected, thus the school has decided to stop the talks and have the time practise session instead. PSG & School Web Page All amendments to the PSG web page has already been updated. However, the teachers contact list is still yet to be updated.

Facilitator Course For Parents The new SFE Facilitator Course will be starting in January 2012. Wei Yin urges interested parents to find out more from Mdm. Anidah or Wei Yin.

PSG Name Tag Due to busy schedule, the PSG Name Tags are still not done yet. Mr. Phua informed that the school is preparing corporate T-Shirts for staff and he suggested that PSG may tag on the order of PSG T-Shirts to reduce cost.

DISCUSSION The parents present at the carnival had an enjoyable time playing the various games put up by the students. SFE Talk Parents As A Coach 30 July 2011 The speaker for the talk was Mr. Desmurn. Parents at the talk had found the information helpful.

Bowling Competition (Dads For Life Program) 30 July 2011 This is the first Dads For Life event the school has ever organised and was well received by parents and child. 25 father & child pairs took part in the competition. Most participants attended as a whole family which the event has achieved its aim in family bonding.

Survey results showed that parents are interested in such events and have also indicated a few preferred games. Some parents suggested paint balls Regent Band Performance At The Istana 7 August 2011 The school band performed at the Istana as part of the National Days celebration. The audience enjoyed the performance.

Teachers Day Celebration 1 September 2011 PSG members were invited to the Teachers Day celebration at Orchid Country Club and have helped to arrange some games at the dinner. The parents help in organising the games was a way to show our appreciation to the teachers. The teachers have enjoyed themselves.

Any Other Matters Updates on Outstanding Issues Pre-Notification to PSG on School Events The Calendar in the school website has been updated with the latest upcoming events. External Safety Validation on 6 July 2011 Mr. Phua updated on the outcome of the following issues :(1) Provision of Sick Bay The printing room in the General Office has already been converted to become the sick bay for students who are ill. All the office staff have undergone first aid training and are competent of offering their help to the pupils. (2) Traffic Control at School Gates Security guards are stationed at the gates to direct traffic during the peak hours. Dads-For-Life Programme Mrs. Eswaran feedback that some parents suggested to organise events for both mother and child which is to be run concurrently with the Dads-For-Life programme. Mr. Phua suggested that the Dads-For-Life programme to be led by a male parent and Ms. Fern will try to get contact from a student whose father suggested paint ball game as the next child-father event and seem to be interested in organising the programme. Night Study Session Mrs. Eswaran informed that the school has arranged a night study session for the Sec. 4E and Sec. 5N students.

DISCUSSION The aim is to provide a place to study for students whose home environment is not conducive enough to study and prepare for their exams. A team of teachers together with a KP will be put in-charge each evening to look after the students and also to give consultation if necessary. The school will provide biscuits and drinks. However, parents are encouraged to contribute warm milo and other food items. Sec. 4 Motivation Talks Martina suggested polytechnic visits to be done earlier ,eg. End of Sec. 1 so as to expose our students to let them know their interest. However, Mrs. Eswaran explained the reason for the polytechnic visits to be done later on. The career guidance in the school program is as follow :Sec 1 e-career portal to advise the pupils future profession. Sec 2 Prior to streaming, a backward tracing of the subjects to study based on the students ideal profession. Sec 3 Work attachment programmes. Sec 4 Open houses of the tertiary institutions in the beginning of the year and careers day in March. Mr. Phua explained that majority of the teachers do not have other careers and the alumni is still very young to talk about career. Thus, the parents will be the best to give talks on the various career to the pupils. Therefore, we need to talent spot parents to give talks to our students. Note of Appreciation Mr. Phua thanked all PSG members for our participation and contributions to school events like the Sport Carnival, Teachers Day and Dads For Life events. He congratulated PSG for working as a team. The next mission is to attract more parents to join the PSG.
