Project 4 Miriam Short 9-1-1 Hang up

At 1601 hours, Officer Gordon Ennis and I (Officer Amy Cestick) responded to a 9-1-1 hang up call. Address of the call came from, 2302 North Water Drive, Spokane, WA 99212. According to dispatch, all that could be heard was a female voice saying He is out of control. Upon arrival at residence, Officer Ennis and I could hear loud voices arguing inside the residence. It sounded like a male and a female, no sounds of physical violence could be heard. The windows on the front of the house appeared to be boarded up with plywood and the house appeared to be old and in disrepair. Officer Ennis and myself knocked on the door and a male voice asked, who is it? . I responded that we were the police. The male opened the door and I asked him if there was anything wrong, and also if anyone from the residence had called 9-1-1. He stated there was no trouble and that he had not called 9-1-1. He turned and asked the female in the room if she had called and she stated yes. The male was asked if there was anyone else in the house besides the female and him. He stated there was no one else. Officer Ennis and I proceeded into the residence and Officer Ennis took the male aside to question him, and I started questioning the female. She stated her name was Jenna Jeremy and she lived at the residence with her husband of two years. Mrs. Jeremy stated she came home from an 11 hour shift at work and was upset because the residence was a mess. Mrs. Jeremy stated her husband ordered her to get him a beer and called her a profanity. I observed a large red mark on the right side of her face and asked her about it. Mrs. Jeremy stated her husband slapped her, open palm across the face. Mrs. Jeremy also stated he had pushed her before, but had never physically assaulted her. Mrs. Jeremy stated she worked at a bar and grill restaurant, work # 555-2337. Mrs. Jeremy states her address is 2302 North Water Drive, Spokane WA, 99212, home # 535-6082. Mrs. Jeremy is 54 and 135 pds, brown hair and brown eyes. She also stated they have been married for two years and have lived at the address for two years as well. Mrs. Jeremy states her husband is unemployed and that he considers himself and artist. Mrs. Jeremy states one of the causes of the argument is because he is home all day and doesnt help keep the house picked up. She states they have no children. Officer Ennis and I confer away from the couple and Officer Ennis informs me of the information he has gathered from the husband. Officer Ennis informed me the husbands name is, Timothy E. Jeremy. His birth date is 5-9-60; he is 511, 220 pds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. He also wears glasses. Officer Ennis stated Mr.

Jeremy was not very responsive to him, didnt want to talk to him. Mr. Jeremy stated his wife came home and he asked her for a beer very nicely and she started getting mouthy and argumentive with him. Mr. Jeremy admitted he did slap Mrs. Jeremy, open palmed in the face. Office Ennis and I decided we would have to arrest Mr. Jeremy for Domestic assault. Officer Ennis felt, that since Mr. Jeremy seemed hostile towards him, that it would be better if I placed him under arrest. Officer Ennis talked to Mrs. Jeremy to gather anymore information. Mr. Jeremy also admitted to me that he did open palm slap his wife across the face. I proceeded to place Mr. Jeremy under arrest. Mr. Jeremy was handcuffed, no resistance, he did verbally protest, but was very compliant. I read him his rights and asked if he understood them. I advised him he was under arrest for assaulting his wife. Officer Ennis advised Mrs. Jeremy what was happening and gave her a booklet on domestic abuse and restraining orders. Officer Ennis also gave her a crime card with the case number and his contact information. Prior to leaving the residence, we also took pictures of Mrs. Jeremys injury. The inside of the residence looked like it was being remodeled and was very messy. Mr. Jeremy did state he was self employed as an artist. Mr. Jeremy was placed in the patrol car and transported without incident to the police station.
