Karma Patrol at Will Rice College Karma Patrol at Will Rice College is designed to be a more proactive approach to giving

care. Instead of waiting for members of our community to be in need of care, we actively patrol the grounds of Will Rice to ensure that the intake of alcohol is slowed by distributing bagels and water. All Karma Patrol team members will be caregiver trained. Karma Patrol will only be dispatched during major events (i.e. NOD, public party, college night, BEEEEERR BIIIKKKKEEEE!!!!) Here is how it works: 1. Karma Patrol consists of two entities: a. Karma Lounge which holds two Karma Captains b. College patrol which involves teams of Karma Patrol that roam college grounds.

2. Karma Lounge holds two Karma Captains at a time who stay within Karma
Lounge for the duration of their shift (typically 2.5 hours). They are responsible for rounding the troops (Karma teams) during the time of their shifts and taking in students who need to rest in Karma Lounge. a. Karma Lounge will hold mattresses for resting, water, bagels and various other food items. b. Typically we only want to reserve Karma Lounge for those on Karma Patrol or those that need care/rest.

3. Karma Patrol consists of (for the purposes of NOD) 4 teams of 2 people that
will patrol Will Rice for 1 hour shifts and 4 teams of 2 people that will patrol Wiess for 1 hour shifts. Partners are encouraged to pair up with their friends for a fun time. The idea is to enjoy your time and to aid each other in tandem to make things easier. Future Karma events will be relegated to Will Rice only. a. Person 1 will have bagels and water. b. Person 2 will have a Walkie Talkie and glowsticks. 4. Person 1s responsibilities: a. Yell KARMA to hearts content. Those that want Karma assistance will shout out KARMA in return. Give a bagel and some water in a cup. b. The idea is to be as generous with the bagels as possible. Anyone can get a bagel. They dont have to be drinking. 5. Person 2s responsibilities: a. Join person 1 in yelling KARMA. If someone in need of Karma assistance has had too much alcohol and would like to rest up in Karma Lounge, radio Karma Lounges captains that X person will be heading to Karma Lounge from X location. Escort said person to Karma Lounge. b. For example: Karma Captains, we have a male, 5 10, brown hair, wearing a red t-shirt being escorted to Karma Lounge from Old Dorm Long Hall. Over. 6. Karma Patrol is not police and is not to be babysitters. a. Its a fun time for friends to get together, roam around campus and liberally distribute bagels and water. 7. Sustainability a. Bagels are donated. Water is free. Cups are donated. Walkie Talkies are rented.

b. Expenses involve T-shirts, glowsticks and rental fees for the walkie
talkies.
